... and a variety of deciduous species, including birch, beech, alder, oak, eucalyptus, just to name a few. I really had the urge to be able to wander through some of the stands that we passed. Most of the trees were not much more that 12 inches in diameter at breast height, as I saw very few much larger than that. All were very straight, and it seems to me they plant them much more densely than we do, then methodically thin them out at various stages ...
