Some great things never change!

... around Montego Bay

Don't forget if you visit this fine all inclusive resort, that there more fun, adventure and dining options, available to you at no extra charge, just down the road at either Sandals Inn or Sandals Royal Caribbean. Both If which I highly recommend you try.

By the way, if you haven't taken the time to introduce yourself to the managers you really need to do so. They want to know ...

CIAO CARRY BEIN'- 'DYER MAKER, QUEUE BA, GUY ANNA

... is way over budget anyway. I only spent $17-1800 for 50 days in the four southernmost South American countries a few months ago. These 60 days will end up at almost three times that, and I'm a frugal muthuh' fuh' yuh', rice cooker and all. Who said that foreign travel is cheap? The initial flight for both these trips was a frequent flyer freebie, as is my next one to Rome; use 'em or lose 'em.

But the antibiotics work and this trip ...

... which is true, that's not to be confused with the scads of hustlers pretending to be your instant friend. Aside from the simple offering of goods for sale, including ganja, they have a couple of interesting come-on lines I haven't encountered elsewhere. One starts "I can see you're not a racist" and the other "Hey! Remember me?" at which point the hustler claims to be the cook at a restaurant he assumes you've frequented or ...

... to the tune of $300 and I was lucky. I could've been stuck th**e for days or weeks. It's not surprising consid**ing the laborious entry even on a good day, as if only one Customs lady is qualified to search dirty und**wear, and that only when she feels like it. Language department again depends on what you want. If you want to be the English-only bozo then Suriname scores lowest, though many people speak quite well. I think th ...

MONTEGO BAY: FRIENDLY NATIVES AND SOUL FOOD

... eyed stuff ("I wonder what else is slanted, yuk yuk?") nor pineapples and peppers in the same dish. You get used to it. The Jamaicans are genuinely friendly people, despite the hustlers, though like all such people they run the risk of running it into the ground and making genuine pests of themselves as has long been the case in Morocco and is arguably in process in Thailand. That friendliness usually carries a price; they've all got their ...

Montego Bay, Jamaica

We were supposed to go to Puerto Limon, Costa Rica on the 24th but as we approached, the authorities closed the harbor due to severe weather and mudslides so we left the area. Later that day Capt. Thor told us that we were headed to Montego Bay. I'd been there before in the 1980s and swore I'd never go back (at that time there was a Marxist Michael Manley in charge and the US was not looked on with favor). Anyway we had to go back and once there, again I swore I'd never go back ...

... deep, very blue water. While we all stood there watching cliff jumpers, a dolphin swam nearby. That night our Jamaican friend who also had been wonderful about driving us all around the island treated us to a delicious dinner at the Montego Bay Yacht Club. We ate outside on a patio that led out to a dock where all the boats were tied. It was so beautiful! Sunday was our last full day in Jamaica and we ...

... Kingston. Plenty of time, right? I wanted to spend the afternoon riding ATVs so I pleaded with the tour guide to let me ride with sandals. That was easy. All I had to do was sign my liability statement again and off we went. The trails were muddy, bumpy, and headed 2,500 feet above sea level. What a rush. I was a virgin to 4-wheelin', but I quickly got the hang of it in no time! We ...

We finally get a call from her, she's in the lobby and I agree to go get her because this hotel is HUGE and there's no way to tell her how to get to our room. When I get to the lobby its soooooo good to see her again! We have a big hug and head back to the room to pick up Debbie and head for some lunch at the beach. ... and take in the full flavour of its Caribbean city appeal. One huge downpour of rain resulted in cars floating around in the town centre, which made the place look spooky, and it was good to discover that a 5 minute walk further up from the payable Doctor's Cove beach was a stretch of beach equally enjoyable, minus the full extent of facilities, but cost-free, and the kind of beach with which I would associate a Caribbean ...
