Getting There

So, you have all been there. The crowded airport, the oversold flight. The annonucement that we need "five volunteers" and the reward--free round trip anywhere? $500 vouchers? The math is always difficult lately for my wife and I as we are usually traveling with our kids. This trip we are off on our own and the announcement at San Juan for a voucher and a hop to Barbados overnight was one we jumped on. To American Airlines credit, the process of the bump was fairly painless and is is really t...

So,
Went to the masaya markets, makes you really wonder why Canadian Health organizations are so anal retentive about sanitary practices. There are pieces of meat, sitting in blazing heat, with flies all over them, everywhere. You can also buy half dead chickens, vegetarians must just be ******. Started my spanish classes as well. Fun Fact: the word Papaya in Cuba, means vagina... could get very confusing if you happen to be ...

... on a cobble stone road, through the jungle, in the 30 degree weather. Lets just say, my ass will never recover. It was so steep, on the walk down, we had to walk backwards just to spare the wear and tear on our knees. This hike made the Grouse Grind look like a highway in the prairies. But all in all, it was worth it for the experience. How many people do you know who can say: " I climbed a volcano with a ninja named Jackie Chan." Seriously, so worth it.

... the captain we would not be joining the return. He was quite nice and understood the situation.

Back in St. George, we did some shopping in Port and explored the famous spice shops. Dot's plaza had a nice selection of spice and soaps. http://mypages.spiceisle.com/dots/ As well as many street vendors offering baskets with fresh spices. I recommend buying your spices from a ...

Grenada's highlights & scenic drive

... be going down those hills. They were quite, and I quote, quite stiff and zig zagging along the mountains. Everytime the driver would turn, he had to press the car's horn to announce to other cars coming down that he was coming up or vice versa. Often, you wondered how two cars could pass one next to another one on those narrowed roads. The driver, however, kept his cool and knew what he was doing. He reassured us all by ...

... g) you get the idea So we started to panic a bit and bit and get frayed nerves. Lulu stayed calm, it should be noted, throughout the trip. We looked for passing ships and saw no one. Our boat had become our saviour and our prison. All we could do was wait. Finally the wind picked up in earnest on Foe's birthday, a gift from the wind god. The day was topped off with dolphins on the bow, a rainbow or two, and ...

... a boat which hailed from New York with the name "Mast Transit". We've heard "For Play", "Secret of Life", "Alleluia" and "Quietly". Wouldn't it be fun if those boat owners wanted to get in touch with each other? It would sound like this: "Secret of Life, Secret of Life, Secret of Life: For Play, For Play" and then "For Play, For Play, For Play: Alleluia, Alleluia" and then "Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia: Quietly, Quietly". With that, I'll sign off until January. Over and Out.

... we are going to do in vegas. Probably lose loads of money, but the hotels seem facinating in themselves! We may be getting there via Road Trip, which will be cool. Not sure how far things like the grnad canyon are from vegas, so may do that. Also theres the hoover dam about 30 miles away. Anyway, im sure i will find time to update when i get to these places, just dont know when. So catch yas l8r, from "america...#@&% yeah! gonna save the mother #@&%ing world again!" dont ask. Andrew

... again it took ages for mine to arrive. Everyone has finished theirs by the time mine came. And then it wasnt that great, just tasted of cheddar cheese :S It was the most expensive thing on the menu...so another 100EC$ down the drain. But that was still a good night. The weather hasnt been that good over the last week, its either been overcast or raining. I suppose its been a welcome change from the heat.
