It's morning, no story yet but having lunch with my daughter Sonya at La Gloria, no , that's not heaven, nor is it that sleepy little town down in South Texas by the border. It's a Mexican food restaurant at the old Pearl Brewery grounds. Is it any good or just ok, tell ya later,at least my thoughts. Oh, in San Antonio,Texas ( home of the Alamo. Got to La Gloria a bit early and sat in the shade by the SA river taking in the place. Parking was a bit tight but it's Friday ...
... nice, although an awful lot of restaurants, which also all seemed to be serving the biggest portions! We had a nice walk round, before heading back to camp. This morning we are heading to look round the Alamo, before heading to Austin. ... the bike someone turned the heating off and opened the freezer door. Then the sky fell down. We stopped for food and petrol in Rocksprings and checked out a motel but were told there was a good chance of getting stuck where we were if the rain continued so we decided to press on for a bit longer. After anther 50 miles we checked in to a motel in Sonora and it's stopped raining.

... defended their grounds at that very location in San Antonio from attack of the Spanish, and later became independent to form Texas, I think. I may have completely misunderstood altogether! But that explains why there are so many Mexican and Spanish people in Texas, as well as the Spanish influenced architecture. The Alamo highlighted the artifacts and weapons used back in the 1800's; everything was hand made - from single barrel to double barrel pistols, rifles, shotguns, ...
... those interested I'll give you a quick rundown but if not skip this paragraph :) Basically when Texas has their revolution from Mexico the Mexicans were going to try to take over San Antonio with 5000 or so troops and were met by 180 soldiers fighting for Texas who managed to hold them off for 12 days before all being killed.
