A day of sensory overload! Took the hotel shuttle into town and arrived at Harrah's. Walked up and down The Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) as the day heated up. No shortage of bars and cafes to get out of the sun, all with elevated prices. So much noise, huge gaudy buildings, music in all directions, but great fun. Spent most time at Bellagio, with its ...

... morning, in need of some groceries, we first went to a Denny's, off the strip, for breakfast and then to Smith's for our groceries. After showers & such, armed with better knowledge of the bus stops, we set out with an agenda.

First , we went and visited the Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden & Dolphin encounter at the Mirage. It was a really nice exhibit, educational and, no matter what your views are about animals in captivity, ...

125 degrees F, cooling to 111degrees at night. Eyeball melting. From Lone Pine on route 95 you drop from 8,000 feet to 250 ft below sea level. Low hot and dry, some years no rainfall at all. Happy to see a coyote who looked thirsty so I gave him a drink. Think his yellow eyes hypnotised me. The wind is hot. The sand is far ...

... we know it, our washing loads are done and we put it all into the one dryer as it’s a huge industrial one and wait another hour.

We finish our laundry and it’s around 2pm, so we head back to the hotel room, eat lunch and relax. I skyped Nikita for an hour or so, having a great girlfriend catch up. After skyping, we thought we could go and do something, but quite frankly we just felt like doing ...

... We headed out about 8am and took the monorail a couple stops up to the Venetian. The aim was to take the monorail to the north of the Strip and walk back down as far as the Luxor. We both took loads of photos, some below, inside and out of the hotels we visited. They are amazing! Still feels like a fantasy world which of Samson commented, "It's all so fake."

From the Venetian we visited Harrah's casino, the Showcase ...
