We are, apparently, out of season. This small town is host to lots of watersports enthusiasts as the season turns to summer, but right now they are still in preparation mode. ... Marijampole. We chose the latter route. We left Vilnius, driving for the first time in mid week traffic. It was very busy. When we left the Kaunas motorway and turned onto the E28 the traffic was just as bad but the road deteriorated to a pot hole ridden single carriageway. Lovely smooth tarmac, not many lorries and lots of lakes to look at on the journey across the border from Lithuania into Poland.
Trakai is 25km outside Vilnius, with a Castle in the middle of a lake that dates back to 1400.
