We are, apparently, out of season. This small town is host to lots of watersports enthusiasts as the season turns to summer, but right now they are still in preparation mode. We've seen restaurants being renovated, deckchairs being unpacked, patios being laid, a boat being launched. Some buildings look as tho they are still being built. Lovely smooth tarmac, not many lorries and lots of lakes to look at on the journey across the border from Lithuania into Poland.

Trakai is 25km outside Vilnius, with a Castle in the middle of a lake that dates back to 1400.
Lots of history surrounding the Karaite people and why they arrived in the area. Very pretty but very touristy although a worthy coffee stop enroute to Elk.

It's another open border but we ...

... t let the gory slaughtering spoil your appetite though...

The four cans of German Weissen beer I got this morning from my German biker friends, will wash down the big pike that is right now still swimming around quite happily hunting down newly born roaches and totally unaware of his barbequeing fate tonight over my camp fire, Mister Maribu and his spoonbill buddies perfect subjects for my sketchbook. ...
