Bath by Bus

WOW!! What a long day. We slept in so we had no time for breakfast. We got ready in less than ten minutes and raced out the door. As luck would have it the driver that had talked to Jen the night before to explain some things about how to get where we were going today was driving by in his bus. Jen waved at him and he stopped and offered us a lift to the station and we quickly got there so fast (Thanks Richard) and got return tickets to ..... BATH!!!

We had about half an hour wait so w...

Last day in lovely London and onto Paree

I woke up at 6:30 and snuck downstairs and updated the blog, checked my email and the weather etc. and then went back upstairs. I fussed around trying to be quiet but I didn't really succeed. Jen woke up a little grouch and rightly so as apparently I not only woke her up but I had snored all night as well. Sorry Jen. She lied in a bit more and I lied down again for a little bit as well so I would be quiet. We finally got up at 9:00. Jen had a shower and than we finished packing, took one last...

Good location

Very helpful staff. Hotel under renovation. If you go to London to see London and not hang around in the Hotel all day this is a wise choice. Very affordable. Rooms get a little warm at night, but by opening the window we were able to stay comfortable.

Surely a hotel should shut during renovation work?!

This hotel is, in my humble opinion, for very short-stays only! The single room I had felt tiny; I had to keep the bathroom door open in order to be able to turn around in it! My room was on the first floor overlooking the road outside so it was very noisy; I could have kept the window shut, but then I would have had to rely on the overhead fan which sounded like a propellor aircraft taking off when I switched it on!!

The breakfast room was in a full state of being replastered, repainted etc; so was especially depressing. The only good thing about it was the coffee!

Unfortunately, I would not stay here again. As another reviewer has written - next time it's travellodge!

Small and basic

Probably the worst hotel I've stayed in London during the last few years of frequent London travel. My fault for letting someone else book me a 3* cheap hotel for tourists........u get what u pay for in life. The rooms are old.....beds small....and the bathrooms a sort of miniscule plastic pod built as one unit (very wierd). ok for one night.......at least it was very clean and the breakfast staff were friendly. If spending less than 60 quid in London ALWAYS stay at a travelin/lodge etc

Very quiet, enjoyable hotel

Stayed over our Thanksgiving holiday. The staff was very polite, helpful and accommodating. We were able to stay in a "quad room" and they made sure we had a ground floor family room since I am in a wheelchair. The beds were quite comfortable. Breakfast (included in our room rate) was good with a variety of items available. We were pleased that the hotel was quiet; transportation was readily accessible and it was well-located to get to a variety of areas we wanted to visit during our stay.

I am a travel agent and wanted to find an inexpensive hotel, centrally located to recommend to clients and friends. It is a bit hard to find but nevertheless is within walking distance of Victoria Station which is the hub. The rooms are not large but sufficient and clean. Bathrooms were a touch small by north american standards and built for short people ie. basin very low. The hotel has a bar for drinks and provides Breakfast in the am. Check in and hotel staff were very accomodating.

Even moved our room so we could have a view of street instead of the back of the building. Give them a try. You cant go wrong for the price!!!

Not for families

First let me say that the location of The Sidney Hotel in the Victoria area of London, is very good. Just a block away is a laundromat where "Ella" will wash, dry and fold your clothes for about 5.30 Euro (about $8) and you can walk to many attractions, or train stations. The staff people were very nice and helpful. I had difficulty using the pay phone with a newly purchased international calling card and the desk manager offered his cell phone. He was very attentive to my problem. That said, let me also say this is a dingy and worn out hotel. The air conditioned lobby looks nothing like the website photo and the "full breakfast" that's included in the rate, is pathetic. The rooms in the "newer" or "remodeled" section are okay. Our friend had a pleasant 2nd floor room overlooking the street. The ceiling fan provided a decent breeze during the heatwave crippling London. But our "family" or "quad" room on the 1st floor near the lobby, was disgusting. Room 106 had 4 single beds and a window overlooking a filthy fully enclosed airshaft. The small table fan barely moved the hot air around in the corner it sat in. The room was excruciatingly HOT and our children woke up several times during the night in a sweat. The carpet and drapes were worn and unattractive. I have to say, though, that the bathroom was clean and the cleaning staff worked hard to do what they could. But at 140 Pounds (around $175/night), this is just not worth it. Four young singles might not mind "slumming" it there, but families beware.
