Day 64. The day started earlier than expected with a 4:50am call to prayer from the local muezzin. After falling back asleep, the next awakening was for our excursion of the day. Along with fifteen or so other happy tourists, we boarded a glass bottom boat for our snorkelling trip around the Gili Islands. Compared to the previous snorkelling of the elective, it was a nice change being in open water instead of just off-shore. The coral and sea life available ...

The whole process was surprisingly efficient, in the passport office we were led upstairs to have our pictures and finger prints taken then we were back in the car on the way back to the harbour in no time at all. We made friends with people we met on the boat ...

... did a sentence gap fill on an extract from the Lion King. We all finished teaching at 5pm. Jen, Eva and myself all went down to the beach for a swim. There were about 8 to 10 local children swimming there too; when we arrived they wanted to play with us, to talk to them and they touched us a lot too, but it’s overwhelming after being with them all day. This evening, Ketut drove us to Tulamben. The water in our fridge has ...
