... a lot different from the others we had seen. It had buddha's inside saying prayers with people around them pouring water into a bowl. There was more of a sacred feel to it. For example, they were very strict on showing the palms of your feet to the buddha. (Its the same in all temples but this one seemed to be more strict)

We spent around 30 minutes there where we watched locals pouring water over the buddha's, lighting candles and taking selfies! Something they are good at ...

... Mahathat, which was just suffocated with tourists.

Other than temples the city centre has a number of markets including the night bazaar which is worth a visit for clothes as well as some good riverfront restaurants.

... quick exit when the chanting began. Although at Lumbini we found the Buddhists chants to be very relaxing, somehow, when they are piped over a sound system they don't feel quite the same. ... great. Just sitting there and taking it all in but pretty soon Liz's condition deteriorated and 8 hours seemed like a very long time.
