First trip: operation relaxation

I flew from Hong Kong to Bangkok today. Now that I am not working, I need to focus a bit more on money to make sure I don't thrash through my savings and end up destitute. I made a good start to this new approach while I was in Bangkok airport. I needed to make my way down to Pattaya, which is about 80 miles south from Bangkok. I checked the price for my normal mode of transport, the airport limo, which was 3,000 Baht. I then asked information where I could catch a bus and they pointed me in ...

Sex in the city

I once spent a day in Pattaya back in 2001. I remember snippets, but as somebody who lived there was showing me around things didn't sink in as much as they do when you are exploring for yourself. The hotel is right across the road from the beach. The beach itself was a bit of a disappointment; the distance from the road to the sea is quite short, even at low tide, and about half that distance is taken up by row after row of deck chairs, all crammed together and all under the cover of umbrell...

There are several jobs in Thailand that only Thai people can hold, 2 of them are hairdressers (I found that strange) and the other one that she mentioned was a Tour Guide. This one I understand as they have a better understanding of the history & customs of the land. Apparently 96% of the people in Thailand are Buddhists, 0.05% are Catholic ...

... U.S. gets a bad rep around the world. He was prejudice, racist, skeezy and overall just someone I wish I hadn't met and had to claim as one of my own. He had been living in Thailand for 8 years, but it seemed like he had been here for 5 seconds.

Anyways, once that boat trip was over we got to Ko Sichang and spent the day relaxing at the beach and walking around the small town. The town was really cute, except for being really run down and the ...

... the bay to Pattaya, we got dropped at the Marriott where we had stayed just over a year ago. We took Sasha into the Mall, she wanted to do 'Ripley's Believe It Or Not Haunted House' but on closer inspection decided she would wait until she had Cammy to do it with her.I was starving so I dragged Alan up to the top floor of the mall to the HotPot for `soup, sushi and salad. We wandered around some more then we went into the gardens of the Marriott to show Sasha how awesome and lovely ...

... me and annabel went to get some tabs and people were driving past stoping and shouting white white white it was dark and there was a thunderstorm and it was really scary as it was in the middle of no where. Stevie drove back, the roads were dreadfull they dont have road rules here and go where ever they want. There was loads of police check points and kept getting pulled over by the police but as they did not speak english we were waved through. Arrived back at the hotel at 5am ...

... one of the Canadians for a beer and he pointed me in the right direction to find an Internet cafe. I went to the beach and found that it was beautiful but not very clean, still close to Bangkok's pollution. There was a little boy wandering the beach. I played with him for a while until I found his mom. Tomorrow I will head to the orphanage and see the kiddies. For the rest of the day I think I will walk about, get some food and maybe head back to the beach. Cheers Natalie

So they next week i will be spending in old clothes soaked to the skin.! But it's good fun! I'm learning a little more Thai but since they all speak English so well, it's hard to maintain it. I haven't seen tv or read a newspaper since I left. Are you all still there? FYI - this is the one place that can outdo us in mold - everything is so damp and humid it smells like mold and ...

... a few swift ones, before calling it a day and preparing for an 8am taxi tomorrow morning. At least it means getting out of this dump! The staff seem friendly enough, though so every cloud has a silver lining. 6th May 2003: After a quick breakfast we jumped in the taxi, trying to get rid of a German bloke who was trying to sell us his island (not literally, but telling us how good it is, know what I mean?) and how we could smoke dope all day if we wanted. We get to the ...
