Day 22 - Friday, 26th September, 2014

We had decided on Thursday night that we were going to have a lazy day today. The hotel was arguably the best we had stayed at and it was cheap. So we booked in for another night.

We got up to the best inclusive breakfast of the trip so far, some of it being English style although there were no beans and after this went for ...

Day 21 - Thursday, 25th September, 2014

We left Perpignan and started riding due west into the Pyrenees Mountains. Our destination was Andorra.

We soon started to make height. The roads were great motorcycling roads, generally good road surfaces, long sweeping left and right bends. There was a nice view around every corner.

We catch the train into Les Rambles and then walk 5 minutes to our accommodation. Unfortunately we are left standing outside for ...

We begin the day by having a final wander around parts of Carcassonne citie and are on the road by 11. We have a new country to visit - Andorra - which is less than 200 Kms away. The first part of the trip is relatively uninteresting, as scenically the area around Carcassonne has little to offer. However once we get beyond Foix the landscape immediately changes as we reach the foothills of the Pyrenees. The road winds sharply and steeply to an altitude,of over 2000 metres. ...

... up through an obvious ski area and we reached the height of 2072m as we passed through the ski village of Bonaigua where its ski-lift was sitting idle and looking strangely out of place on this warm and sunny summers day.

This mountain is a haven for cyclists of both types. We passed many motorbikes whose riders must love the tight turns on both the ascent and descent as well as solo and groups of hardy bicyclists making their challenging way to the peak. We have noted ...
