What a day we had in Xi'an. First of all we were up and packed ready for our flight to Chengdu. Our first activity was to see the walls surrounding the old city of Xi'an. But not by foot, but by bicycle. Our ever efficient guide Winnie rented us two bikes and off we went. Now there are 4 corners to every square...more on that later. ... frontage, a busy cityscape of apartments all around and an entrance full of vans. However, when we walk through the arch the true nature of Sim's reveals itself. There is a dark shady garden of palms and sub-tropical plants, with funky bamboo walkways, snug seating dens and a fish pond. The office is a buzz with backpackers of all ages and there is a pukka travel desk, a decent library of books and CDs and an elevator to whizz you up to the 5th floor where our room is located. It's ...

... be able to access Starbucks' Wi-fi anyway because you need a Chinese cellphone number to set up an account. Envy was able to find her an internet café and get her set up so that she could Skype with her boyfriend. We actually ended up staying up quite a bit later than we'd intended to keep poor Envy out and said goodnight around 12am.

We packed up our stuff in the morning and checked out with no problems. At the bus stop we ...
