... sky's and fuji not blocked by any other mountains in the way(see pictures). Like the monkey park it was definitely worth the extra effort to get there and it is clear to see why the Japanese place such cultural and even spiritual importance on Fuji as it is so aesthetically pleasing and absolutely dwarfs everything around it. I'm off to Nagoya tomorrow as I head more into western ...

... will remember us after we leave anyway.

We caught the train to Tachikawa but did not realise that we had to change trains. In the past, we just went directly there. We were wondering why the people got off the train. As all the path is easy to follow (no one is allowed to use other than the official path), but steep, we pass the station 6, 7, and 8. We arrive at 22:30 at station 9a and decide to lodge there.

For a reasonable CHF 55.- per person we get a bunk bed with approximately 150 others and rest until 02:00 when the climbers ...

So second time was a charm for me at Mt Fuji. The weather was much better the second time round and I not only saw the mountain but even managed to climb it!

Honesty, my timing with the climb was not great. I slept in and under estimated how long the bus journey to the fifth station of the mountain takes (40 mins) so didn't actually set off climbing till two o'clock in the afternoon. This meant I was in ...
