Mt. Fuji
... time we saw the peak when we first arrived we couldn't believe the size of it...we managed to get a few pics of the old gal but nothing that quite does it justice. When the sun did come out the scenery looked amazing especially with all of the autumn colours We really enjoyed our trip out, it was great to get away from the city, beautiful scenery and a good way to wear ourselves out for the overnight bus journey that evening to ...
My longest blog in ths trip so far
This is the longest blog so far in this trip, cause a lot of time spent on trains
Took JR, train and train again to get to Fuji train station, total of about 2 something hours.
I have to make a comment, the worst washroom I went to China was still better than the one in Fuji train station :(
I forgot to chk the weather for Fuji, the weather at the Mt is 10 degree lower than the station. It was cold in the station, probably mid teens ...
More shrines, temples and Chinatown
Another train ride this morning, this time to Kamakura -- a hamlet by Japan standards of only 175,000 residents. The city is located on Sagami Bay not far from the thriving port city, Yokohama. Kamakura is the location of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. The ten minute walk to the shrine was along a pathway that was constructed in 1190. This would be a fantastic place to visit in the springtime when ...
Tokyo to Izu Oshima
We left Ryokan Eishinkan about 7.30. The owner gave us breakfast and coffee to take away.We were dropped off at Takeshiba Pier and managed to sort out tickets to Oshima. East Coast Mainline couldn't have cost more! To add insult to injury we then had to pay an 2000 yen extra for oversize luggage!
Aboard the hydrofoil, we headed the 120 km across Tokyo bay to the island of Oshima. Why were we going? Well, Mihari-yama, ...
Enoshima
... Again, it's pretty close from our place. I always see it when I drive pass the beach coast and I thought I knew about Enoshima but it wasn't true. Aki showed up at our place with lots of yummy food such as ice cream, mini-pies, boxed small cakes. (* Remember, it's her BD.) We had some quick tea and headed to a fresh seafood Japanese restaurant it's called Eboshi. Nick and I had Sashimi lunch sets, Aki had a baked tuna head lunch ...
