... why until we saw the ticket office. We had expected to spend around 15 yuan into temples today but the entrance fee was 216. Sneaky sneaky. Typical of Tourist Trap China. We'd no choice but to pay. The bus station was inside the village  and the nearest town the other direction at the foot of the mountain! It was also raining. ... after room rate had been negotiated, we'd checked that the facilities were all in working order and we'd paid the man, we discovered that our lock didn't work. A replacement room was not forthcoming (except at three times the going rate, the slimy git!) so we decided to leave. We got our money back eventually, after some good natured, yet firm discussion.
