... A quick descent and we moved onto another temple. But today seemed to be all about the photographs! We picked up a snack from a street food stall which was as cheap as chips! Actually it was much cheaper than chips! And definitely wasn't chips! Another temple. This one was very peaceful and beautiful. And then another, also beautiful. After a late lunch I passed a very pleasant couple of hours browsing the shops. There were lots of visitors here, including monks on a weekend ...

The Hanging Temple - beautiful to look at, horrible to visit. I've definitely just had the lowest point of my trip! The number of people and cars waiting to go to the Hanging Temple was unbelievable. I have just stood in a queue for 21/2 hours and then slowly snaked my way around in single file being crushed, pushed, poked and photographed. The Temple itself was beautiful but way too small for the number of people trying to squeeze through. ...

... Wutai we drove out through the mountains. Along the drive we passed many fields of orange marigolds. I think this is honestly the first time I have ever seen fields and fields of marigolds. My question is though, why only orange? We continued on our way to Pingyao passing by mountains and then onto fields and cities. Riding in the bus is definitely a fantastic way to see the country. Since it is our own bus for the ...

... in yellow glazed tiles. In my opinion this is what really made this temple stand out from a lot of the others. A bunch of us from my group then went to Xiantong temple. We were able to witness some of the monks moving throughout the temple as they went from one building to another to pray. The temple was built in 67 AD and was the first temple of Wutai. In the one building were many Buddha statues with some of them sitting on the ...

I decided that since we weren't leaving until 9:30 am that I would go for a run. I got up at 6 and ran to the wall and entered the old city and did two laps around the ring road. I saw a lot of interesting things during my two laps. In various places people were doing tai chi. This included the various forms with no equipment and one with the fan and then another that seemed like tai chi but was using the broad sword. There was a group of about 40 people ...
