Crete - never been here before. So it was with much anticipation that we set off on our tour. Not as charming as Santorini, parts of it a bit like a non graffitied, tidier version of Athens - not bad but not really amazing either. Their economy is very strong and they could survive independently from the rest of Greece. First stop was the Palace of Knossos. Interesting. Our tour guide Lena was good. She glossed over a lot of the dates and figures and just ...

... kerb all day. Good to know.

So what can I say about Crete.

I think its called the food bowl of Greece - and there appears to be a very good reason for that. The food here is amazing. We were lucky that we got some very hot tips about where to eat while we were here. Not able to get to all the places on that list, but did get to at least three of them. And I also have to mention the breakfast food here at the hotel. What an amazing ...

... t care at that point. I was done with Mt Ida, I wasn't going to make it to the summit in time, and if I could just make it down to the plateau I could hoof it back to the taverna. I did. Now I'm here, thoroughly disgusted that I tried and failed. To make it back to Naxos by Friday though (last day the post office is open) I need to get moving, South then East.
