We woke up rather late and had to rush down to breakfast. Getting out of bed when it's in the floor is tricky! We decided to go to the modern art gallery as the weather forecast was improving as the day progressed. The gallery was a fabulous space - the first thing to greet you was the incredible dotty flowers by Yayoi Kusama who is now world famous but was born in Matsumoto. Her exhibits were extraordinary all dotty. We loved the huge pumpkin room & mirrored rooms. We went ...

... slushier in the afternoon - we decided to ski the morning, have lunch on the mountain and then ski home or catch the gondola. On Wednesday, we were about to ski Skyline home, when the fog arrived just as we were about to hike the last bit. The white out (5 m visibility) meant that we had to go down via the Nagasaka gondola - it was a good thing the white out arrived when it did otherwise it would have been a bit scary on the narrow Skyline. We headed back to the Lodge for ...

... hugging yourself in the fetus position in a bath, but upright and you will be halfway to understanding this bathtub. It was fantastic to soak in during the cold nights.
The house itself consisted of 5 rooms, only separated by sliding doors. between rooms they were made of wood, but facing the outside they were made of paper. This allowed the morning light to suffuse through the screens, a great way to wake up. Around the sides of the house there is a ...
