Japan Day 1- Planes, Trains and Grape Fanta.

So today we woke up in Sydney/got up due to a night of not much sleep. (Thanks George Street and garbage trucks.) Went down to breakfast at 7 am sharp where we had toast and cereal and I managed to spill half a cup of juice all over my trackies, the chair and the floor. The cup has recently been renamed as "The Magic Pudding of juice cups" because there was really not much in it for how much spilt everywhere. At about 7:30 we ...

Walk Down to Electric Avenue

... long mullet-ey hair and fake tans. I have put it to Katie to figure out what is actually offered at these venues. I am way off track. Back to the angelic glow of this city. Each area has its own panache. In Akihabara, the electric city where all the geeks hang out, the sights are all 'techy' and the red lights are replaced with anime advertising and cartoon porn (yup....dirty cartoon comic books for people that ...

Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese...

... subway straight back to Asakusa and our warm beds. Day 3 We woke up bright and early again for our last day in Tokyo and our last day travelling. The plan was to go to Shibuya, Imperial Palace, Harajuku and then back to Shibuya to see it at night. A very busy day yet again! We started out by another coffee shop breakfast (not starbucks though) and then caught the Ginza line to Shibuya. We were really proud of ourselves as we had started getting used to the subway system by ...

A few nights of luxury...

... walked into `town` (by `town,` I mean `area of Tokyo that is pretty much bigger than any other entire city that I`ve ever been to!`). To begin with, I wasn`t too adventurous and just got the train to nearby Harajuku which is on the famous Yamanote Line that loops around the city. It was a little bit intimidating buying a ticket at the vending machines for the first time, simply because it was in Japanese and there were so many people rushing backwards and forwards (Shinjuku ...

... had lunch at a little noodle shop that over looked the river that the village was on and just had a great time walking around the town and through the bamboo forest that borders it. I had time to sit by the river and writ in my journal and I played with a little puppies that an older man had gotten as a gift for his grand daughter - he spoke really good English and he was very inquisitive about the Semester At Sea. It was fun and relaxing to be away from the big cities and ...

The sound of the underground

... weve had to do is about 350m, but from what I`ve seen there are bigger ones that that. Everything is automated here, absolutly everything. You can buy virtually everything you need to survive and your luxuries in a vending machine. Most of the coffee houses and restaurants also have ticket vending machines where you select your meal and then take it into the restaurant! its a bit weired! the sony building!!! what an experiece, u cant imagine it unless youve been in it ...

... day and I didn't feel disappointed about not seeing the game live; just v**y upset about the US winning! Day 13 We said our good-byes at Kyoto station the next morning, as Lina had to be back in school lat** that day. I took the train back to Osaka to pick up my main rucksack and then made the decision to take myself down to Hiroshima, the last main tourist destination I hadn't visited. 2 hours lat** I was in the city of the A-Bomb (http://groups.msn.com/TheLifeofRowly/h istoricjapan ...

Hello Japan

... knows Chinese and it is fine to fill in some parts with Chinese. It was very boring on plane. I wonder how people can spend a whole day on plane. We arrived on time and took bus to the Shinjuku. The bus was so big and comfortable. In fact, other than taking bus, there are other choices, like the Narita express (train). The name of the airport bus ...
