... than monks in southeast Asia. While beliefs are nearly the same, South Korean Buddhists felt that there were some things that weren't consistent among the teachings and practices so those have changed only in South Korea, in addition to the clothes monks wear. In southeast Asia, when I went to any temple, I was given a sarong to wear which is specific to that region (along with the bright orange robes) though in other parts of Asia there is a ...

We are getting ready to leave Korea after living here for one year and begin our trip of a lifetime.

For those of you who don't know, Tasha and I have been living in Mokpo, South Korea since October 2012. We've been teaching English in a private language academy, working with adorable Korean kids ages 3-16. It has been a big change from working on the ships, and we are so grateful for the freedom we have ...

Siting in the car, we pulled out our cell phones to consult the map. The rain was not very heavy, but walking around wasn't really an option. And, given that Korea is rather small in size, if it is raining in one city, it is most likely raining (or will rain, or just finished raining) in every other city. After a few minutes of scanning the maps, we decided to drive south towards an area where the land had been extended towards the sea. A ...
