It's OK but I wasn't expecting ripped linen

We had the basic and cheapest room. Walked into 80s and I think the linen is from that time too cause it was very thin and ripped. The room is very dated but clean. It didn't bother us much because we are only staying one night and need somewhere convenient to sleep. If we would stay more than one night, we will definitely stay in Shinjuku

Amazing hotel, not the best location though

The hotel itself was amazing. The room was comfortable clean and well equipped, the lobby was gorgeous and the staff was helpful.
But the Shinagawa station (which is a good 10 minutes walk from the hotel, no fun with heavy bags) doesn't really have many attractions for the traveler. The only thing I could find to do around the hotel was visit the Shinagawa aquarium- which was great.

          We've Got This

We caught two glimpses of Mt. Fuji. One as we rocketed by it on the Shinkansen Bullet train from Kyoto to Tokyo and one, believe it or not, out our hotel window one evening at sunset. Both times it was hazy, but the sunset view was without clouds covering the summit.

We thought Kyoto was crowded …

Having extended my hotel room for an extra 2 hours this morning at a cost of 2,700 yen (£15), my suitcase is packed, my travel blogs are up to date and im smiling. Im also wondering what i should do for the last few hours in Tokyo, before my Japanese son Shohei comes to share drinks, on the 39th floor, with a 360 degree view of the city.

After another 4am bedtime retreat, the comfort of relaxing in my hotel room, with just a little trip out for breakfast, was a welcomed start to the day. My afternoon was already planned, to have dinner with Rina and her mum Utayo out in Gokokuji near the main area of Ikebukuro, on the JR Yamanote Line, which has been my travelling friend for most …

A lazy morning in my plush hotel room is just what i fancied, so thats exactly what i had. Emi and Shohei were coming to meet me at my hotel for 12 midday, so i went out to explore my new area, in search of the little bakeries and supermarkets i was familiar with from Gotanda. Unfortunately, no such luck, as Shinagawa is a business transport hub …

Here in Japan there were 3 families, a couple and a lady and her dog, all in coats or jumpers - not a bikini or pair of sunglasses in sight! On our walk back we stopped by a Namco arcade in which we managed to spend 600Y on getting our photos taken in a comedy booth - all the instructions in Japanese too so we're pretty pleased with ...

          On the move again

... this train was a slightly different model to the last one, with a more futuristic-looking nose. The two and a half hour trip soon whizzed by and we found ourselves a short subway ride and walk from our (cheaper still) hotel. Heading out in search of food, it seemed to be a little late in the day with a lot of places closed and in the midst of preparations for re-opening in the evening so we found ourselves in an interesting looking vegetarian place called 'beans', where ...
