It's OK but I wasn't expecting ripped linen

We had the basic and cheapest room. Walked into 80s and I think the linen is from that time too cause it was very thin and ripped. The room is very dated but clean. It didn't bother us much because we are only staying one night and need somewhere convenient to sleep. If we would stay more than one night, we will definitely stay in Shinjuku

Amazing hotel, not the best location though

The hotel itself was amazing. The room was comfortable clean and well equipped, the lobby was gorgeous and the staff was helpful.
But the Shinagawa station (which is a good 10 minutes walk from the hotel, no fun with heavy bags) doesn't really have many attractions for the traveler. The only thing I could find to do around the hotel was visit the Shinagawa aquarium- which was great.

    Tokyo

We caught two glimpses of Mt. Fuji. One as we rocketed by it on the Shinkansen Bullet train from Kyoto to Tokyo and one, believe it or not, out our hotel window one evening at sunset. Both times it was hazy, but the sunset view was without clouds covering the summit.

We thought Kyoto was crowded …

    A long day in Tokyo

After such a huge week of travelling, we were exhausted. So much so we deleted a planned day trip to Nikko and have a slower day in Tokyo.

After missing breakfast (mum said I didn't miss much!) and a nice sleep, we finally headed out at 10:45am.

The temperature was very different to yesterday. It was warm and sunny and such a …

So it's Easter Sunday and I am pleased to say not an Easter Egg in sight! Buffet breakfast was included at the hotel. Freshly baked croissants and bread with a yummy (HOT!) apple filling. I love eggs, but these scrambled eggs were too eggy (not sure how to explain them). We sat with a family with two little twin girls who were hovering the chicken …

Here in Japan there were 3 families, a couple and a lady and her dog, all in coats or jumpers - not a bikini or pair of sunglasses in sight! On our walk back we stopped by a Namco arcade in which we managed to spend 600Y on getting our photos taken in a comedy booth - all the instructions in Japanese too so we're pretty pleased with ...

    On the move again

... this train was a slightly different model to the last one, with a more futuristic-looking nose. The two and a half hour trip soon whizzed by and we found ourselves a short subway ride and walk from our (cheaper still) hotel. Heading out in search of food, it seemed to be a little late in the day with a lot of places closed and in the midst of preparations for re-opening in the evening so we found ourselves in an interesting looking vegetarian place called 'beans', where ...

... beer vending machine and I won the first game, Paul won the second, which worked out very nicely. It's not the same as Wii bowling at Dan and Jojo's with an audience everytime a 44 goes by! Finally we stumbled onto a really nice bar called Beer Cafe 7 - again no English spoken but we ended up with 2 beers, some deep fried pumpkin and a pizza = just what we wanted !
