Little Liuchiu is a born destination for Lohas (i.e. Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability). In addition to fantastic natural scenery, you don’t have to worry about avoiding the crowds or bustling traffic. The Round-the-island Road is flat and smooth. ... geared myself up for the moment I had most been dreading - to come face to face with a formal business (don't embarrass Mark) meal with an exotic, unknown, unfamiliar menu. Even though it is traditional that the host's select the entire menu, our's did ask if we were okay with sushi and would we prefer pork tonkatsu (fried panko-breaded pork cutlet) or shrimp tempura (no heads, thank heaven!) ... Chinese restaurant. I went in and found a little Shanghai/Art Deco period decorated place, not something you see a lot of in Taiwan. I had a tasty noodle dish and noticed on my way out that it was owned by the same people who ran a huge Western place here called Smokey Joes - now the decor made sense! I had another outing planned for the next day, so I went home and got ready for that and went to bed. I will try and post about that ...
