Day 3- Traveling to My Mom's Hometown

... right next to your competitors and sell pretty much the same ****. But what do I know. I am still a young business man and don’t know much. Anyways, for lunch we had raw beef, that was just killed the day before, that was mixed with sesame seed oil and probably soy sauce and red pepper. I was hesitate at first but it was actually pretty good. I think if they threw it on the grill it would have been the bomb. At the meat market they had unique ...

Spoiled in Gwangju

... spots for the locals. There was a large bridge with two dragons facing each other to connect both sides of the mountains. It was nice to see the modernation of the rural parts of Korea.

Next stop was the place that makes the traditional pottery of Korea. We saw a man make pots by hand and see the stages of it. Then saw the different types through out the ages of Korea, China ...

These deep city lights...

... if he even tried, but he's uttered about 10 words to me the whole time. We went for a beer last night which was basically me monologuing at him. I bumped into him on the beach today before I got the bus, had some lunch and he said he wanted to come to Gwangju with me... Tomorrow I'm going to Ttang-keut-mal-eul which is the place Keiji told me to go to. The end of the road... like Land's End. After ...

... and saw a Chinatown... quite something if you just arrived from China. Then it was time to take the subway to Seoul (about an hour). Here I checked in into Bong House, with the very friendly and laid-back owner Bong. The next few days I visited the sights of Seoul and that are quite a few. There are a number of palaces for instance. One evening I saw a big anti-government demonstration - which turns out ugly most of the time - but when I left it was still ...

Land of Green Tea

... We came back to our hotel from the night before and just stayed in for the night. All the hiking around the tea plantation made us tired, so relaxing has been nice. And speaking of the hotel, we got a different room with some new features. For one, the bathtub has jets that you can turn on and there's a gel-type pad over the bed keeping the matress cool and making it almost waterbed-like. Off to the western coast tomorrow!

Personal Geography

... a decade. She cannot walk anymore, so I tried to help her as best I could and in the morning took her for a wheelchair stroll about the rice paddies. The following day my dad's 1st, 2nd and 4rd sisters came to visit the farm and I took them out to lunch. The visit was one of personal discovery of my roots and those of my ancestors. My grandfather worked those rice paddies until a year before he passed away and he was kind enough to leave for ...

The sauna, the sports massage, barber shop and the steam room at the hotel were just a front for u guessed it men's entertainment..... Before we knew this a group of us girls got together to go for a "sauna" - thinking well it would probably be separate sexes...We were greeted at the door man in a suit and looking at the prices > $100 we were thinking that must be some ...
