    ... both on and off the trains is in English and Japanese. Very easy to use the ticketing system and the Metro - very clean, frequent and on time.

    Lunch on the way at a cafe at Ueno Station - good little spot with salad lunches at about AUD$8 each - more than enough for lunch - Mexican chicken and a Tofu salad.

    in 1979 the gardens were named as cultural heritage.
    Today the 43,000 sq metre area is a showplace of Japanese living beauty..from the Edo Clan period.. It's ponds, walkways and design are so relaxing, so serene . A photographers Eden.. The blossoms, the azaleas, the wisterias, the huge Koi Carp in the ponds.. All mesmerising !

    ... was Asakusa for some of Japan's heritage with the Sensoji temple.  The kids enjoyed burning incense and wafting smoke over their faces and Sinead made wishes by tying paper to a fence panel... sounds very uninspiring but I'm sure it's highly spiritual if you are that way inclined!
