Shilo Inn - Palm Springs

After several harassing knocks at the door (Hey – checkout is noon – its 9.30am so sod off) I got away from the hotel at a little after 10am. I had hoped for a return to the JT NP but when I saw that I had a 400+ mile drive and I wanted to ride the tramway up to San Jacinto I realised that was not going to happen.

So I got myself round to the tramway – which is basically a really big cable ...

... head and take a look but Zooey is a whole level above all of these – I would watch her read the yellow pages (but it would be better if she sang it as she had a lovely voice – check out She and Him Vol 1)

What I listened to: The Dylan-a-thon continues to continue but I did have a diversion into Writers Block by Peter Bjorn and John on my N86. A great album most known for Young Folks but with many more and better tracks.

... to Hawaii. Going to sleep pretty early every night after a couple homemade cocktails! Trader joes is by far the best store in the world. Wonderful salads, pizzas, wine and snacks for all under $5. Bringing back lots of wine,sake, curry sauces and snacks for my new place in palolo with my bf! Thanksgiving at yayas house was to die for! Wonderful turkey, ham, homemade cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes! Yum ...

... Peak at 10,834 feet. The sunrise has no sign of coming and the waning quarter moon is casting its silver light upon a slope of granite boulders. Mars is on the horizon adding an celestial element to the desert's potent stillness.
-So far this morning we shared the trail with three women hikers who started out ahead of us. We passed them (of course) because they were slow chatty ladies, but they passed us because we were men and got lost by taking a wrong ...

So Leah and I made it out to California last week and attended Festival 8 for Phish's Halloween weekend.

I've been to one of the previous 7 festivals and they've played 5 Halloween shows. This is their first Halloween festival and my first holiday experience. The best part of the evening is when they cover another band's entire album, taking it on as a "musical costume". This time was The Rolling Stone's Exile on Main ...

We spent the day shopping at the Desert Hills Outlet Center on the way here. It definitely lives up to its name of being a "premium" outlet. They had the standard designer fare, with great discounts. ... Just another day in the desert. Sippin coffee and waiting for the next yoga class to start. Its not just yoga. Its relaxing, live music, chanting, meditation, loving and appreciating. My teammates decide to take a trip into the park but I'm not ready to leave the yoga fest, never enough yoga. I take the afternoon class and grateful that I did. The chanting/music was ...

... cooking them at home! He's so full now he looks like he's got a litte food baby in his tummy! It was his type of meal, and Cian and Lyn loved it too. Poor old Tegz didn't enjoy, and it was the last straw when she saw the chicken hearts! She revived in time for the chocolate mousse! All in all a very different meal. Back to the hotel room, and back into the pool. How am I going to cope without swimming late at night? Roll on next summer! Guess who's started planning already??

After touring San Diego, our last stop was
Palm Springs, CA. This city is in the middle of the desert surrounded
by mountains. As you drive through, there are high winds you can
encounter with sand blowing onto the road, so slow down and drive with
caution, especially at night watch out for nocturnal ...
