It's getting late here in Tokyo and I don't have the energy to write up the entry for the climb up to the volcano on Mt. Higashi-Azuma. It was a long climb - about 27 km continuous uphill to an elevation of 1,700 metres and I'm knackered. I am posting the link again for the flickr photos which show how picturesque this ...

Challenging on its own but probably suicidal under typhoon wind conditions especially at the top which is exposed and part of the road up follows a ridge.

          Hopefully, the wind will ...

There is a large hall with a sunken hearth, a living room, a room with the family's Buddhist altar, a guest room and sleeping rooms. Above the sleeping rooms is a mezzanine, with a few handicrafts revealing the lives of the people of the time. There were also some silk works, looms, and the like.
The shiny black ceiling was interesting and gave some clue as ...

... The views of Nihonmatsu and the surrounding mountains are beautiful. On return to Nihonmatsu, We paid a quick visit to the Nihonmatsu shrine. It is not as spectacular as those at the major tourist spots but it was peaceful and a nice place to visit. It also had many steps - good training for the streets of Paris and the Cinque Terra. Two of Jess's colleagues I invited us out to ...
