He says he dreams of going to Inner Mongolia to ride horses on the grassland and go to Xishuangbana in the tropics, but it won't happen in this life time. He's got too much obligations already. But he's not a cynic. He tells me he's driven over 10,000 km on this truck alone, I tell him that's more than 2.5 times around the world, he chuckles.

Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China trow814... m either traveling or working a lot on the weekends, I usually never can but this Sunday I made a point not to schedule any lessons so could go. We took two cars out to Dragon Lake- about an hour outside the city. It was beautiful. We went on a speed boat, then went on a paddle boat, then caught some worm-fish things, had a nice picnic and relaxed by the water. It was great. Hoping to be able to go out with them again sometime before I leave. I really like both of their families.

Shijiazhuang, China chinatravel... problems, but not nearly as many as before. The last two weeks I've done a geography lesson. I bought a big map of the world (everything was in Chinese) and wrote several countries on the board in English and had students come up to the map and say the country name in Chinese so the class would know both. I gave out my first homework assignment- they had to finish looking up the rest of the countries I had written on ...
Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China trow814... then- his face was wet with tears. after i told the teacher that she made a mistake with pulling aside the wrong boy, the crying boy went running into the teachers lounge and put his head on a desk. i went in there to try to talk to him and told him he was not in trouble and was not a bad boy and that he was very good in my class and then he gave me a huge hug. i don't know if he really understood me but i was rubbing his back and ...
Shijiazhuang, China trow814... they can only have one child, they don't want him/her to have to a disability. they said those with disabilities are sent to special schools in bigger cities because many families can't afford to take care of them and people look down upon families that have people with disabilities. i really couldn't believe this. we also talked about the differences in education- they told us middle school and high ...
Shijiazhuang, China billiechristine... I want so I'm excited to decorate. The students are very good about helping in class in class as well- i ask for volunteers to erase the board and they all dash. They also dash toward me when class is over/when I'm standing in the hallway between classes because they want me to sign their notebooks. I keep telling them I'm not famous and my autograph won't be worth money but I think they just like looking at it- i guess maybe like i like ...
Shijiazhuang, China trow814... I may be in for a good and easy ride already! We took a cab to the Beijing train station where I found myself asking many questions as I took part in a Chinese train station breakfast of noodles, a "soft" hotdog of unknown origin, and a brown "salty egg." I somewhat pride myself on being able to eat just about anything but I have really had to suck up my pride while holding back my gag reflex. The "ham intestine" really took me to the limit yesterday. If you haven't ...
