... vineyard in the valley just 15 minutes from town, with great view and lovely wines. We bought a couple of bottles for the road and headed for Arrowtown, a small gold mining village used in the Lord of the Rings films. It only has two main streets but is very nice and we took a walk up Tobins track which had great views of the surrounding valley. Checked out a local campsite but was a bit pricey so headed for Te Anau.<br>

... drinks and not skiing on the lit runs! Stunning views of the valley below with Queenstown lit up always made night skiing a highlight of the week. Unfortunately we had the last night ski last week as the snow is disappearing and they estimate only another 3 weeks left of the mountains being open at all. I&#8217;m trying to upload some silly skiing videos we took to this page so keep an eye out for them &#8211; it&#8217;s a shame we didn&#8217;t think to do it earlier in ...

... four days in Queenstown I figured I would wait a day and see if it had been cleared. Well, the next day I was informed that the road would not be cleared until at the soonest the day AFTER I was to leave! That was no good, so I looked into other ways of getting there. There are companies that fly there, cruise on the sound, and fly back. That option also eliminates the day long bus ride. But it is much more expensive ...

Adventure Capital of the World!

... designated bus stop in town not in the best of moods since I was slightly hungover and sad to say goodbye to Queenstown. As it was early and pouring with rain I managed to sleep a bit more on the first leg of tour until morning tea so I woke up feeling much better! We arrived at Mount Cook at lunchtime but unfortunately due to the rain and low cloud we couldnt actually see the mountain itself! We had a 2 hour stop so we visited the Edmund Hillary Alpine centre and saw a ...

We climbed through ice caves &amp; took some pretty cool photos. It took about 4 hours in total &amp; we were wiped out by the end of the tour, so headed over to the hot pools to relax for the evening :o)<br ...

Extreme Queenstown

Having collected our camper van in Christchurch, basically a Toyota people carrier with its back seats removed and converted into a sleeping area, we headed south to a town called Queens town which is known as he "Adrenalin capital of the world" This is the town that lays claim to inventing the bungee and in recent years the canyon swing. Surrounded by mountains, lakes and rivers Queens town is a town with two identities ...

... not kick in till I was being tied up (with a towel and a bit of velcro, if you must know). I discussed my planned backward jump with my bungy dude. 'If this is your fist jump, I wouldn't recommend it. Some people freak out.' Too late, I explained, I had already told people I was doing it and I wasn't about to pussy out in front of the whole bus. But then, standing on the edge, facing my bungy man, not knowing what was behind me, I had a ...
