... Saifuddien Mosque" kavaistiin myos tarkastamassa vaikka meita ei vaarauskoisina sinne sisaan paastettykkaan. Muita katsastamisen arvoisia nahtavyyksia olisivat esim. Kampong Ayer - vesikyla, seka vanhempien sulttaanien haudat, mutta ne eivat talla kertaa jaksaneet sytyttaa. Keskustasta loytyy myos useampia ostoskeskuksia seka jopa KFC mutta muuten lansimaiset vaikutteet huutavat poissaolollaan.

Bruneista jaa nyt lyhyen visiitin jalkeen ...
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei ilari... to just give up? Not a chance. A nice little crowd formed to see the stupid Americans trying to board everyday transportation and one even shouted out, "American?" That's right buddy, call even more attention to the scene with your shouting. Naturally, I told the crowd I was Canadian and they just shook their heads and said, "ooooooh. ooooooh. oooooooh" as if this is a normal occurrence for Winnipegans or Saskatoonians.

While wandering around the wood ...
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei atlpilot36... Bill Gates overtook him), but no one knows where it is. It's one of the smallest countries in the world, and it was about to be completely enveloped by Malaysia, until oil was discovered in 1929, turning this little country into one of the worlds economic powers overnight. The current Sultans father decided to throw his lot in with the British and remain under their protection instead of becoming part of Malaysia, and this is what helped keep all that oil and money in this ...
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei gary_cailinOn the morning we left Limbang, we walked to the boat jetty with the intention of taking a speedboat to Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB), the capital of Brunei, around 30 minutes away. However, when we arrived at the jetty, we were informed that there were no scheduled boats going to BSB and that we would have to charter a speedboat which would be quite costly. We decided to take a bus to the border town of Kuala Luara instead. We boarded the most ...
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei butterfills... was live music night at the British pub underneath the hostel. Even though we were three floors up, we had to endure the sounds of a screechy girl band belting out Gloria Estefan hits, followed by a Malaysian Elvis, until the wee small hours. Yet another night without sleep.

Early the next morning, feeling extremely sleep deprived, we were collected for our flight to Mulu. We left our large backpacks behind as they were to be transported separately ...
Limbang, Sarawak, Malaysia butterfills... guiding skills! She drove us to our first stop and blithely told us that we would have to walk (climb she meant) 500m to the top of a hill for a view over the forest. It was steep too, wooden stariways on the steepest sections, a bit of clambering over rocks and a few easy paths. It was hot again, of course. Little sign of any wild life, just butterflies and the odd millipede, 8" long and 3/4" wide. The view northwards towards Mount Kinabalu was the closest we got to this ...
Bangar, Brunei geoffnsteph... not the people), ice cream parlours... The food joints were very American in the middle of town and 'keeping it real' we ate at the small local places too. Richie ate at Pizza Hut. I helped him with a little bit. Just friendly really. A couple of days chilling around town and we move on....now whether you believe it or not, I could live in Brunei and sacrifice the beer. It was by far the best place so far.
