Spacious room, lacking service

The hotel is pretty good overall. I was given an upgraded room because I am an SPG Gold Member. My room was on the 26th floor, the Club floor. The room was nice. The bathroom seemed a little plain though. Something I would expect at a two star hotel. The toilitries were very cheap.

I went and had a snack at the Skyylounge lobby bar. It was okay.

I called the Sheraton Service Promise line and requested turndown service. At first they said no problem. They immediately called back and said that they don't do turndown service to guest who only stay one night??? They did bring clean towels and a few toilitrie items and just left them on a chair. They never picked up the used towels.

This is a very poorly ran hotel in regards to room service by housekeeping.

Overall, the hotel itself is okay but not worth the money.

My recommendation for a good hotel in downtown San Diego would be the Hyatt.

Pricey but OK

We had 3 people with 2 double beds and the sleeper sofa. The room was small, but clean and quiet. The double beds had lots of fluffy pillows and a fluffy comforter. Bathroom small but adequate.

No refrigerator. Vending machines only on certain floors were expensive (use the staff vending machines off the lobby instead). Gift shop is only open limited hours, so you either have to pay hotel bar/restaurant prices or go wander around town.

The concierge was friendly and helpful (suggested staff vending machines when the gift shop was closed).

Parking was the weirdest thing. A central spiral driveway up to the 7th floor, then the usual parking structure maze up to the 11th floor. If you are claustrophobic or easily disoriented, you'll want to pay the valet. And yes, you'll pay for parking (upon checkout) even if you self-park.

Great stay at the Sheraton Suites San Diego!

Stayed at the San Diego Sheraton Suites for 4 nights in July 2004 and enjoyed it very much.

The hotel is in downtown San Diego, and is VERY close to the airport, the convention center, the baseball stadium, Horton Plaza, and the Gaslamp District. Fast food restaurants, gas stations, drugstores, and a large supermarket are all closeby. The hotel is freeway-convenient and the San Diego Zoo is just a few minutes away by freeway or surface streets.

The hotel was very nice. The lobby was bright and cheerful and the front desk staff was very helpful (providing us with a selection of take-out menus late one night and gladly re-keying our room when we temporarily misplaced one of our keys). The hotel has a heated pool and your average fitness center.

Our room was a spacious twin suite. It had a large living room area with a couch, chairs, a desk, and a TV (there is a second TV in the bedroom area). The beds were incredibly comfy and we loved the extra pillows on each bed. The sinks were separate from the bath and toilet, which was helpful in our mad rush to get ready in the mornings. The A/C worked well and the cable TV had a decent selection of channels. The room was very clean and seemed to have good sound-proofing, as we couldn't hear our neighbors.

There was a minor problem with the toilet our first day, but the engineering staff took care of it while we were out - we appreciated the card letting us know someone had been there in our absence to make the repair.

Self-parking in the structure can be dizzying and headache-inducing. Like many hotels in downtown San Diego, the structure is rather small and built on a tight spiral. We had no problems finding a parking space each night, and the spaces are larger than in some of the other structures I've parked in downtown. The cost for self-parking was a little high, but is in line with other full-service hotels in the area.

At the time of our stay, the hotel did not provide a free airport shuttle, which seemed a little unusual given how closeby it is.

Overall, we had a great experience at the Sheraton Suites San Diego and plan to stay there again next time we're in town.

Gave it a second chance!!! You decide

I have stayed here twice and both times something has gone wrong. The first stay the cleaning job wasnt up to par, but thats ok stuff happens. Although the second stay where the refridgerator leaked water on the floor, the Heater/AC didnt work and not to meantion that I had to wait a long while for room service to deliver made me decide that it was time to switch hotels

The Sheraton Harbor Hotel San Diego

We purchased our 3 rooms through Hot Wire.Upon arrival and checking out our rooms we were shocked.The carpet was filthy,the wall paper was hanging,the drapes were falling off the rods,the view was of storage shacks.I called and asked if we could be moved and they just said no.They were very unconcered that we were displeased.These reservations were made months in advance,so it wasn't as if it was last minute with very little available.Also their self parking ($16.00 a day) does not have enough spaces to accommadate all cars so sometimes you don't get

a spot.I do fell that because it was a Hot Wire purchase that we were given the worst rooms in the oldest section.Anyway I would not recommend the Sheartion San Diego Harbor, especially with there lack of interest in the customers.

Pretty good hotel

Very pleased with my stay here. the first room I was given had a problem, once I notified the desk and asked for another room, they upgraded me to a better room and offered a free in room movie.The second room I got was very spacious, had a micro and a fridge and a/c with in room control.

The staff was very friendly, and often greeted me and my family, by our last name (like "The Joneses") as we came and went from the hotel.

I didn't use the garage, but just entering the hotel on foot is an unsual experience. You have to use two elevators, one to get to the lobby and then one to go up to your floor.

The hotel and my room were very clean, and the decor was nicer than some of the "chain" hotels I've stayed at. Also, there weren't any major discrepancies on my bill. They did try to charge the free movie to one of my family members, but once I explained, it was cleared up.

If I had any complaints, the shampoo and conditioner they provided weren't very good. I ended up purchasing some at a store nearby.

OK, Nothing Special, But Security Problems a concern

We stayed here in June 04. Hotel is nicely located for those traveling to the Zoo or SeaWorld. Also easy access to get back to the Airport. Valet staff first indicated our room wasn't ready, but upon presenting ourselves on the 12th floor, we were able to checkin. Room is clean, bed is comfortable and the kids liked the 22nd floor view. Asked for a crib, and the staff brought it up fairly quickly, and seemed astonished when I presented a tip. Then, the staff called to ensure the crib was delivered. So pretty good service, along with a pretty good room. However, on the 2nd night there, noticed that there was a loud gathering a few rooms down. Then, about 9:00 PM, someone entered our room, and they weren't hotel staff. The person realized they were at the wrong room, and quickly left. I bolted after them, but couldn't figure out which hotel room they went to. Sure this is partially my fault for not putting the hook on the door, and using the dead bolt, but why did that person have the same access to my room as I did. That surely meant I had access to their room as well. What is scary is that my 5 year old daughter would have been sleeping in the area on the pullout couch, and she could have been abducted or raped. Lucky she was in my area of the room behind the French Doors. The Sheraton has lost my business forever.

A Suite Stay!

My family stayed at Sheraton Suites for a conference this spring. We were greeted warmly from the time we arrived streetside to the check-in lobby on the 12th floor. We were upgraded to the club level room because I was a Starwood Preferred Guest member. The room was spacious and our 2 year old daughter loved the king bed. So did we! The sofa is a pull-out double which served us well. The concierge service is efficient, courteous, and personable. Breakfast at the Rendition restaurant was excellent whether you chose the buffet or cooked-to-order. The serving staff made it a point to interact with our daughter and took note of her needs. Their heated swimming pool was just the right size for our needs and our daughter made sure we used the pool daily. The area was never crowded so I got to enjoy the jacuzzi when time allowed. Check out the good Mexican eateries within walking distance of the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel to families who want a more private, quiet, and relaxing hotel environment with a hospitable and efficient staff. Do review your bill before checkout because inaccuracies can appear which the front desk staff corrects quickly and apologetically. As my wife declared on our way home, "That hotel was a great find!"

Comfortable, predictable and very spacious

I regularly stay here on business. I like it because the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the place is QUIET and there are never any suprises. This hotel never seems to be very busy during the week and I like that. The rates are generally low compared to similiar properties with smaller rooms. The furnishings in the lobby, hallways and rooms are a bit outdated, but in an old-fashined, comforting kind of way. The beds themselves though are modern and superior; very comfortable.

I love that it has self-parking instead of valet-only (common in San Diego); rates were $18 / day at the time of this writing. Car-sickness sufferers beware: parking is on the 11th floor of the parking structure - and it's a long and curvy route to get there; I always drop my girlfriend off at the bottom and have her meet me in the lobby (12th Floor).

The staff has generally been courteous and efficent; the food is standard fare and adequate; nothing to write home about. The windows open a couple of inches which is great on warm nights.

As far as I have seen, all of the suites are pretty much the same. The top three floors (25-27) gets you bathrobes and additional toiletries.

One word of warning: check your bill. I have had problems incurring unwarranted charges. Once I was charged for a night that I cancelled per hotel policy; once I was charged a higher rate than was on my confirmation; and once I was charged for minibar items that I didn't consume. All charges were refunded promptly when I brought them to their attention.

Spacious, clean, nice suites

Stayed at this all suites hotel in Dec 01 when the hotel was under Marriott flag as well as in Dec 02 when it became Sheraton Suites San Diego. We enjoyed both stays. Our suites had a spacious living room, nice king bedroom, wet bar and microwave, and a large bathroom with separate bath tub and shower. A minor problem I noticed at this as well as several other Sheraton hotels is a lack of space to hold your shampoo in a shower stall. There is a small soap dish, but it is not big enough to hold anything else. It must have been designed by a man who hates washing hairs! I always end up putting my shampoo and conditioner bottles on the floor... Also, getting in and out of the parking lot can be an experience if you self-park. The hotel sits atop an orchestra hall and you have to drive a narrow spiral up and down for parking. Other than that, we had pleasant stays, taking advantage of the great December room rates. The restaurant tends to be expensive for dinner, but the food and services were good. They also have an attractive lounge/bar area off the restaurant and lobby. We love the fact the whole public area was smoke-free. The hotel was conveniently close to shops and restaurants, and a trolley stop.
