Philadelphia the GREAT

Quick news update... yes I was in DC today and did ride the metro, but no my train did not crash we are all safe and on our way to Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Day 2:
We woke up late! I wanted to be out of the door by 8am, we were out of the door by 11:30am. I freaked out, but Anthony pulled me back down and told me it would be OKAY. Everything worked out since we had the best travel agent around... ME! Our hotel was less than a block away from the start of all HISTORIC PHILADELPHIA, we were at the Liberty Bell Center within a few mins, but before heading in we stopped at a street cart and had some Philly Cheese Steaks. Day Three:
One more day of sleeping in, but when we finally did make our way out of the room, it was not a good thing. Both Day 2 & 3 I was feeling a bit sick, my belly wasn't doing too good, and my head was killing me :(

Great Service and Great Location

We stayed at the Sheraton for New Year's Eve and had a great time. All the staff, from bellmen to front desk to concierge, were very friendly and helpful. And you can't beat the location...walking distance to nearly everything you'd want to see.

Plus, perhaps the best hair dryer I've ever used in a hotel room!

Superb Location

Stayed here 5th & 5th November. Had a very pleasant room - inside view.

Superb location. Convention on at time so it was very busy. Had a drink in the bar and the bar tender was so miserable - I note this has been commented on before. Overall very happy with stay and would stay again.

Nice overall

On a very busy weekend we were able to get a nice room at a very good price. Room was large, clean and bed was very comfortable. Ate in the restaurant and found the food and service was good. We turned in at 12:00 and at 1:30 AM some nit-wit apparently pulled the fire alarm...

everyone got out orderly then staff informed us all was well. Didn't realize I could have paid $12 just up the street to park my car; it must be the same lot the hotel uses for $22. Anyway we have always found Sheraton pretty good value would stay here again

Do not go to the bar !!!!

The hotel is above average and is in a great location to explore the old part of Philly. and also South Street is close to hand. The hotel is very clean and the staff more than helpfull. The rooms were cleaned daily and are of a high quality. The bar prices are very very expensive $16.00 for a Baileys and a Bud !!!, It was cheaper in New York. Would recomend the hotel If you are in Philly you must "Ride the Duck"

Great lunch at Society Hill

It is a small place on the corner of 3rd and Chestnut; not w/c accessible. If that's not a problem, the food is quite good with a pleasant presentation. You can get a steak sandwich topped with coleslaw, a Cobb salad, or spicy chicken wings (mild) to name a few. We liked them all!

Typical Overrated Big Hotel Chain

Our family stayed here recently to enjoy the Philadelphia historic area. The place was clean enough but the service was poor and the rooms overpriced. Next time we will look for a smaller hotel or B&B.

Ok, but better hotels in area

My family stayed at the Sheraton when they came to town for my wedding.

The location is great, but that's about the nicest thing I can say. The rooms are decent but nothing to brag about. My parents didn't get their room cleaned for two days, even though they had the "clean room" sign up and complained to the desk twice. We went to "The Wooden Nickel" (the lobby bar) for drinks and the bar tender was miserable. There was a large group staying at the hotel and were running up and down the halls at all hours. Although my sister-in-law complained (she got free breakfast), the hotel did nothing to keep the guests quiet. When I called to be connected to my parents room, I usually had to call two or three times for somebody to answer. The Sheraton is not the worst place, but you can do so much better. If you're looking for a hotel in this area, I would suggest the Omni at Independence Park.

I cannot say enough about the excellent stay we had at the Sheraton Society Hill July 2-4, 2003. The hotel is beatiful and well-maintained by the courteous staff. Our room was spacious and the bed was probably the most comfortable I have ever had in a hotel. Our stay was made more pleasurable by the convenience of a restaurant, bar, and small gift shop with sundries inside the hotel. The Sheraton Society Hill is just off Walnut Street midway between Independence Mall and South Street. It is very near Penn's Landing with its varied entertainment. Historic City Tavern is just around the corner and the Old Bookbinders Resturant (now closed for renovation) is on an adjacent street. We really enjoyed riding the amphibious DUCK that tours the historic area and goes into the Delaware River. This is a fun ride for the whole family. It really quacked us up! You will not regret your stay at this pleasant, quiet hotel in the heart of Philadelphia's historic area.

Sheraton has no respect for guests

This was the worst hotel experience my wife and I could have ever had.

We prepaid to reserve a room here two weeks earlier and expected a nice night away. I called early the afternoon of the day of our reservation and advised we would be there around 11:30 pm; the person I spoke with was polite. When we showed up the night manager told us that the previous shift gave our room away and they had nothing but sofa bed conference rooms; another couple was there who just flew in to town and also lost their room. They overbook and then charge for the room anyway then make you fight for your money back. I will never stay with a Sheraton again.

Service, Service, Service!

We spent two nights and almost three days at the Sheraton Society Hill. Checked in, took a walk down to Penns Landing...soooo close. Dinner at the finest Italian restaurant, "Sfizzio". Seafood and pasta was wonderful. All historical sites are within walking distance! Atmosphere of safety prevails at all times of the day or evening. Bellboys and other staff more than helpful with questions..Ask them! They have the answers for you to save money and best places to go. Movies that are in theaters are available in your room for a minimum charge too! Pizza room service too! Would love to go back again!
