A brush with fame

... will utter the name?" "It's J-Lo," she said. Now you're talking. Even I know 'her.' She came in and the flashes went wild. I waited for her to walk past me, and I got a good picture and am sure I left spots in her eyes from the flash. We then advanced to the reception, where Wellington Webb was the first person we met. (That's Denver's old mayor for you out-of-town readers.) I said "hi" and he shook my hand and said he was glad to see me, of course. He was probably ...

... century mark. Unfortunately, the Army is planning to level the course and build an Army museum. Hopefully the federation of retired generals who regularly play here can save the course from demolition. It is too good of a track to be lost to the ages. I needed to drop 2 clubs out of my bag to make it legal because I typically carry 5 wedges (16 clubs) in my bag. I decided to leave the driver and 4 iron in my car. Gunston is so tight and punishing I ...

... Cemetery - otherwise, you had to get there before dawn and wait and hope you were one of the first 500 (only 500 were going to be allowed, and each route had 125 ribbons). I got my ribbon, and when I walked away, I realized I had been given 2 ribbons, so I turned and gave one to one of my fellow 3rd-platoon FNG's. The day ended in Alexandria Virginia, at the Marymount University - across the street from the Holiday Inn we are ...

Exploring DC

After a breakfast of home-cooked pancakes we walked up Massechusetts Avenue where all the foreign embassy buildings are. We went on to the National Cathedral which is a huge, Episcopalian church built in the English Gothic style. It was only completed recently and had quite an interesting exhibition about it's construction - they used a lot of traditional stonemasonry skills. From the Cathedral (which we couldn't go into unless we wanted to ...

... it was sad to hear him tell us the details about it. Anyway - we got out of there....depressing....and went to see some money being printed. That was really cool! Walked, walked, and walked some more around the Washington Monument (very tall!) WWII Monument, the reflection pool, the Lincoln Memorial (Only Tim ...

Cross Country Trip via RV

... someone to fix our toilet. We had to wait around until 12 til they came. They actually had to stick their hands down the toilet and take out all of the toilet paper - better them then me! After they got a lot out they stuck a thick electric cord wrapped with electric tape down to get the rest clear. Paul asked for it so if we had the problem again we could do it ourselves. And, we got a few lessons on how to use an RV toilet. When we bought the RV ...

Where Back

... I had to stop them and tell them my kids would not be left alone outside the cubical and brought them in while they had to stand and watch me be frisked. They even checked my "privates" as Jesse would say! These security people are doing their job but they do need some training on dealing with families with young children. They are just clueless. Finally, we made it on the plane and returned safely to Boston ...

Start spreading the news...

... and had a really nice meal out at a restaurant that had live jazz playing and soaked up our last few hours in the city before walking back to the hotel, ready for our 4am start the next morning heading back to London.... Wow - sorry, if you made it this far, congrats - didn't want to drag it out but had lots to tell you, and even though we would've loved to have had a couple more days, we seemed to manage to cram in a fair bit in 3 1/2 days! Better stop...next adventure will be Ireland!

The end of this road

... we both woke up in Georgia with a few ticks on our bodies. I did have to maneuver a three point turn in an intersection with the RV attached on a steep road in the South Carolina mountains. I did lightly tap the car in front of me as we made our way out of the Bonnaroo concert in Tennessee. I waved and gave him an OK sign when he got out of the car to look at his rear bumper; he then nodded back at me and got in his car once he realized everything was all right. The outside ...
