Last but not least we headed to visit Wulan’s best friend in a village Kotagede. She is a young (around 33) widower, with a 5-year-old daughter living in poor conditions. Her husband passed away due to cancer. Her daughter has ...

... quite often you get a real Disney's Ratatouille experience when a big rat will walk out of the kitchen of a restaurant (to check if customers are enjoying their food I guess). A country where ppl will stop you on the street and ask to have a picture taken with you. A country where a distance gets completely new meaning- 100 km will mean at least 3 hours journey. A country were you feel like a giant on the street being at least head taller than everyone else. We have seen ...

We didn't have map of Yogyakarta when we arrived in the city but we knew it wasn't very big, so we decided to look for a room around the train station. Luckily, there are many many hostels and guesthouses in the area. We eventually followed a fat man who offered us a room in a nice place at a good price. The room looked nice and it had everything, so there was not much to think about. We left our backpacks and went out for a walk around the center and to eat something. ...

... the other side of the street there was also a flower market and aquarium stalls. Definitely worth a visit if you are in town. I then headed off to Imogiri, the burial site for Sultan Agung and successive members of the royal family. Unfortunately however its only possible to enter/see inside the tombs on certain days & at certain times and today ...

The temple site itself is very well preserved but after the temples in Cambodia we find ourselves slightly underwhelmed.

Yogya itself is not a very attractive or inciting tourist stop were it not for Borobudor so we are glad to leave it for the remote beaches of Lombok and the last leg of our 10 day ...
