Punta Arenas - The empty city :) We got to Punta Arenas at Christmas eve the streets was empty, the stores was closed and the birds stopped singing... At Punta Arenas we slept at 21 years old couple with a little baby girl, they were so nice to us. they did a Christmas dinner so they asked everybody who wonted to join to pay a minimal price and they made a big dinner - with meat no one could cut with a knife or chew... but it was a nice gesture and after dinner they gave everybody in the host...
Punta Arenas, Chile ronamaykSunday, December 31, 2006 A Memorable Celebration Dear Readers: Toto is on the move today, as we leave Santiago headed for the beachfront towns of Valparaiso and Vina del Mar. The drive is through beautiful hills and vineyards. As we travel it gets cloudier and grayer, and we notice that people are wearing jackets when we reach the ocean. Stepping off the bus for our first walkabout in Valparaiso we understand why - it is darned cold outside. And we're in t-shirts and shorts! There is a hasty...

... He has an apartment with his friends, but he still lives at home, too.) There I met several of his friends and had a great time talking, laughing, listening to music, etc. After that, he took us to Cafe Journal. Wednesday nights are the party nights for many college students, especially the international students like myself (at least I think that's what I've been told). We had a great time dancing, and Oscar and his friends ...
Vina del Mar, Chile etroesch... that they should not be brought across the borders. There was a large cow cut-out and I had just learned that word the day before, so I took the opportunity to extend an olive branch and show this man that I was working on my Spanish vocab. I said "baca", he corrected my pronunciation and I think my final steps on Argentinean soil were spent improving diplomatic relations. The old man in the blue coat smiled and was eager to say hola y adios to Tulli and ...
Valparaiso, Chile benguigue... d run out of whatever that was. Instead my new friend Yoko and I got a Tropical Pizza (hawiian). The restaurant was jammed pack, which was surprising because the pizzas were not good. They were barely warm when they arrived at the table. After dinner we popped across the road to a bar that had 'fiesta hora' (happy hour) which was from 8pm-11pm. My Pisco sour was incredibly strong ...
Valparaiso, Chile danasvfinally...another blog!!! jay and i have arrived in viņa del mar, a small ocean town (i guess it could be considered a city) on the coast. it is on the outskirts of valparaiso, which is a beautiful port city built on a hill. it is very picturesque and old...we are headed there within the next couple days! it is nice to be out of santiago and near an ocean, our last couple days in santiago were a little gloomy, jeans and ...
Viņa Del Mar, Chile stefaniestamm... she took a public bus down here to my place and then she and I rode the metro to the Universidad de Santiago, where there is a bus station. Now, we didn't exactly figure this out on our own...my concierge was very helpful and explained which stop to take. And, with a little pantomiming, I figured out what he was saying. At the bus station we discovered that the buses to Vina leave every 20 minutes and were only 4.000 pesos ...
Vina del Mar, Chile meganmcmanus703Arrived in Valparaiso expecting to spend 2 nights tops. Have now been here four counting tonight. Valparaiso is an average size historic port city to the West of Santiago. It once boomed as a port city before the Panama Canal was opened. The harbour itself is polluted and not so nice but surrounding towns like Vina Del Mar which I also visited provide for fun in the sun. With beaches and nice coastline ...
