... city is connected to Duluth by incredibly long and high bridges.
Things we Observed:
· A rail line through northern Minnesota is maintained by CN personnel and is used exclusively by CN trains, hmm???
· The water of Lake Superior in Duluth is red - don’t know if it’s from the algae in the lake or the iron ore content in the water. The gravel shoreline is red as well.
· When ...
... with family and more family who wanted to join the fun. I think there were five cars heading up north for the camping trip. My son was looking forward to fishing, I wasn't sure what my daughter was looking forward to. Except that now she remembers the time as a good time and she would not mind taking another camping trip.
The Apostle Islands Rally has come to an end so we said goodbye to our BAC friends on Wednesday and made the short drive back west to Dultuh. We settled into our new 'home' at Ogstons RV park and proceeded to take the afternoon off.
The city of Duluth and it's neighbor to the east, Superior Wisconsin, are known as the twin ports. Both ...
We are off at just past 9 am from the Super 8. We had a quick continental breakfast in the motel and now are on the road. We thought we were only 290 miles from Superior according to the hotel listing in the GPS but when we say Go there it jumps to 380 miles. We decide the points of interest listing mileage numbers must be as the crow flies and not driving miles. Oh well, a bit longer drive than we had anticipated.
Some highlights:
1) Brady playing ...
... is very forgiving. Monday night’s ground beef and rice stuffed cabbage leaves turned out much better than the turkey breast. Baked apples were good, too. Carrots or potatoes left whole never seem to soften so you need to cut them in bit-sized pieces. The hamburger patty turned out really well, though, Brady wouldn’t eat it because it tasted different than a McDonald’s hamburger!
We were ...
... one of the most beautiful roads in USA, according to the brochures. Only problem, because the lake is so cold and the air was so humid, it formed a thick fog and very little was seen.
We arrived at grand Marais late afternoon, and settled into a very large municipal RV park and marina, right in the centre of town, a great spot. We went to sleep hearing the fog horns.
The town is very nice with many restaurants art galleries and a nice sheltered harbour. We were pleased we stopped.
... much all day. We got through Duluth much better this time.
We both have GPS's so that helped. We have missed seeing all the wild animals along the road. It is nice to see green grass and trees. It looks alot like MI here.
We are staying in a campground in Superior Wisconsin.

... miles before we entered the paper-mill town of Grand Rapids where there was the largest pile of logs I have ever seen - 50 ft high and about quarter of a mile long. The other highlights of today were getting the car washed at the geographical centre of North America, re-crossing the Mississippi, and buying a coffee thermos in the town where Judy Garland was born. Nuff said!

P.S Good luck to Damo in his AC - I'm sure he'll do brilliantly.
... bells on my collar to warn bears and other critters that we are in the vicinity. Personally, I don't think a bear will care if I have bells on or not. If he or she is hungry I don't think the bells will stop them. So anyway, I digress... When the alarm went off this morning I definitely knew it would be a different day because since both Dave ...
Saginaw, Minnesota, United States vwinansSo Duluth is home to Beach Way Motel, which is home to a little man named Skip. Skip is a cool guy if you've ever met one, though he can talk a mans ear off, but i'm not complaining, i could listen to him talk all day. Oh just about the normal stuff, like how he has two metal knees, or how he owns another hotel on the other side of lake superior, or about anything that ...
