We are home now (midnight last night) from our grand, and I do mean GRAND Alaskan adventure. I'm sorry we didn't blog much while we were gone. When we weren't having a TON of fun, we were exhausted and sleeping or we didn't have Internet access! The weather was (unusual ...

The park is situated on the shores of the Ohio river, with the stately Roebling Bridge carrying vehicle and foot traffic over to Kentucky on the opposite shore. Historical Traveler Reviews Crowne Plaza Hotel Cincinnati North
Very Nice Hotel
The Sheraton Cincinnati North Hotel has been recently renovated. Because of this, everything is new and CLEAN! All the fixtures in the bedroom and bathroom are brand new and in good taste. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were SO fluffy and soft! The temperature is controlled by a wall thermostat. We had a nightcap in the lounge, and the bartender was very friendly. No food, though, because the kitchen closes at 11:00 p.m. on the weekends. Also, one other negative is that the shower was not hot, but rather tepid. I did not mind, but my husband was pretty disappointed by this. All in all, it was a good experience, great room for the price ($89.00 AAA rate), and I would definitely stay there again!
I booked a night in this hotel for $38 via Priceline, and, unfortunately, it wasn't much of a bargain. During check-in, the woman at the front desk acknowledged that the room was prepaid through Priceline and then told me that we would be staying in the "East Wing." That's not the main, high-rise part of the hotel, but a low-rise extension off the back that has a 1970s feel to it.
The updated lobby is very nice, but the room I stayed in was kind of small. The bathroom was really small... the toilet was right beside the tub. Also, when open, the door was only about an inch away from the toilet and you couldn't open the door more than halfway because it hit the tub. There is plenty of counterspace, however, but no fan and no hairdryer. The bedding and carpet were clean and stain-free. My room had a view of the (covered) outdoor pool and there was no noise from the highway. It seemed that the walls were pretty thin, though. I could hear a lot of noise from the other rooms and hallway, but I just turned on the fan for some white noise. The area is nice, it's near a school and there are restaurants, gas stations, and other hotels nearby. It's very easy to get to from Interstate 75. I would probably try to get something closer to the downtown area next time I stay in Cincy, but for the price ($46 plus tax through Hotwire), this was a nice place to stay.
Nice hotel...bad service
The updates to the hotel were very nice. However, the staff and their customer service needs updating. After checking in and undressing for a shower after a 5 house drive I was extremely mortified as a man comes through my door due to the front desk assigning him my room. After covering myself with the comforter and trying to get him and the group who were now gathered outside of my door after hearing us scream, one of the staff came to my door, not to apologize, but to question my being in the room. When my husband returned to hear what happened, he immediately went to the front desk. Again, there was no apology from the manager, just a giggle after replying with an "Yeah, I heard about that".
Nice to look at with all the marble but, there are no fans in the bathroom and the shower curtain had mildew on it. Also the room was kind of small. I was not impressed.
My husband and I stayed at the newly updated Sheraton on May 6, 2006. Driving up to the hotel you start wondering what they updated. Anyhow once you get to the entrance and walk in you realize they've spent alot of money remodeling the whole interior of this hotel. Looks great and very clean. We checked in fairly quick with friendly assistance. When she gave me the room key I asked if that particular room was on the highway side, and it was so that had to be changed. (I know they couldn't have upgraded the windows because the exterior aspects of the hotel look original, as this looks like a cheaper hotel turned into a Sheraton) She said they get complaints from people on the highway side of the hotel considering it does sit right beside the interstate. We arrived on the 11th floor on the south side of the hotel and didn't notice enough road noise to bother either of us. The room was clean and updated with traditional Sheraton bedding to look forward to. The bathroom is rather small as the door swings within an 8th of an inch hitting the toilet. The fixtures and curtain rod has been been updated with the original tub and tile remaining, but Sheraton clean and works great. One thing I have to mention is the air conditioning/heaing unit. This was the downfall to all that great bedding, we are both extremely tired today from waking up everytime the a/c unit kicked on. For a price of $109 a night, I did not expect a wall unit.
The newly reopened Sheraton Cincinnati North is like an oasis. I've stayed in the Cincinnati area a dozen times (or more!) in the last couple of years, and had not been able to find a hotel that wasn't too cheesy or too expensive. The mid-range properties in the city were really lacking. Now, at last, a hotel with fantastic beds (kudos to the Sheraton chain for making this a priority in all their hotels) lovely decor, complimentary bottled water, and free parking!
I stay in a bunch of mediocre Sheratons....this one is not one of them. The renovations are sharp, rooms are clean and new (usually the knock on the standard Sheraton) and although the property is somewhat isolated, it is convenient to the highway and about 15minutes to downtown. I find that the Westin in town is always too much $$$$....this is a great alternative.
Nice Club Lounge too.
Very good and affordable Italian restaurant about 1/2 mile away...
