So I get to Chui at 10pm. The border is a street, no river, no aduana, this side of the road, Uruguay, that side Brasil. Cool. Grab a burger and a couple beers and check into this really ****** hotel, finally shower and sleep. Grab a bus in the morning at 8am for Punta del Diablo, by 930am i was on the beach......

I took the overnight bus from Chui to Porto Alegre. The bus left Chui at 11pm and arrived at 6:30am in Porto Alegre on October 27.
I don't know exactly why it is I decided to stop in Porto Alegre for a few days. BRAZIL!!!
... for a stamp and were told there was a bus back- so we told the taxi to leave (big mistake). No bus= a long walk back to town complete with bags!
Jamie and I played chess in the Plaza (small park) for a few hours- took turns reading the Lonely Planet to each other and generally got quite bored! Chuy is a duty free town so we toured the shops for a while and discovered Heinz squeezy horseradish sauce- a new one on us!
