    ... Buddha, half way up a lady asked Des if he maybe had a lighter, of course he did. As a thank you she gave us incense sticks (wierook stokjes) we had to lighten them, take 3 bows towards the Buddha and then make a wish, super sweet! Up on top there were 6 other statues of different Gods, all to honour the big Buddha in the middle. Because the main food streets were croweded with police, protesters and onlookers, I ended up eating at a spanish tapas restaurant closer to the hostel in an upscale shopping district.     ... one of the benefits of going in low season, even if it is cold! Xi'an We were in Xi'an for 3 days and again, though it was cold it was beautiful to be there.
