    Gambling on life

... missed the last climb of the Macao Tower by two hours. From here I was directed to a public bus - the number 23 - which I was told would take me back to the 24 hour ferry terminal. About maybe halfway there - as it transpired - I panicked and jumped off in a small town, eventually finding my way to the waterfront where I was told that the ferry terminal was a very long walk. Not to worry, in recognition of my outfit, I had spent most of the evening ...

... we crawl along the bars. The three musketeers (me, pip and Rosie) find ourselves alone again but we are soon accompanied by some local boys who are more than happy to show us their favourite Friday night joints. Lobster, tomato and mozzarella, pate, cured meats and salads warmed us up for the main courses (I chose tagliatelle with wild boar ragout - yes!), and deserts included a selection of cakes, profiteroles and tiramisu. Thanks to everyone ...

... Hong Kong Basic Law, its constitutional document, which stipulates that Hong Kong shall have a "high degree of autonomy" in all matters except foreign relations and military defence, governs its political system. Although it has a burgeoning multi-party system, a small-circle electorate controls half of its legislature. The head of the government, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, is chosen by an Election Committee of 400 to 1,200 members, a situation that will ...

In the morning we got the MRT into Central, and went and looked at the very tall buildings! Then headed over to get the Star Ferry over to Kowloon and back. We then got the bus to Stanley. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the trip over - it was the first time I have ever seen a Mclaren dealership! It was also interesting seeing the huge houses built right on the edge of the hillside. On the way back from Stanley ...
