      Thousand Buddha Mountain Jinan

We went to Thousand-Buddha Hill (Qianfoshan) today. Many steps to climb to see several temples, including the huge Xingguochan Temple, the beautiful Maitreya Buddha and the lying Buddha with a Swastika on his chest, and a cave of 130 buddha statues.

We later found out that there is also Thousand Buddha Cliff which is a different place, 35 km away from Jinan with more Buddhas carved along a 35m wall.

We then went to Yinhuchi Jie (Muslim Food Street).

We came down and visited the Dai Temple, which was built in the design of the Forbidden City.

We then went to the Muslim area of Jinan about 6pm and had a lovely meal in a Muslim restaurant, followed by a wander down a Muslim Food Street with open air cafes and a lively atmosphere. I bought a red Chinese jacket for 220yuan from some lovely ladies in a little shop.

Will and I arrived in Jinan for Qing Ming (Tomb Sweeping) weekend break. We went to the Park which is where the Baotu Spring originates and had a wander around. It was quite cold and polluted, unlike Ningbo yesterday when it had been very warm and sunny.

Had a pizza in a lovely German restaurant by the river.

... keep nearly the same pace as us. A couple steps at a time. The part I couldn't get over was what some of them were wearing. Little shoes with no socks, no hats or scarfs or mittens. There was snow on the ground. By this point and it was cold. I had on my hikers, with wools socks, long-johns, wind breaker pants, dry fit shirt, sweater, winter sports coat, hat, mittens scarf and I was comfortable. Between the heat coming from working so hard and my layers I was warm. ...

... Beijing for our final 3 days in the camp. The train ride was only 1 and half hours and flew by. We were seated together and could barely fit all of our luggage on the train. Imagine 50 kids with full suitcases trying to put the luggage in the storage area on the train.

We arrived at the train station and I went to McDonald's to buy fries for the group. Of course they started to leave while ...
