Our hotel was a lovely Chinese house and a very good choice. Our concierge remarked that they had 24h warm water in the hotel (which after living in Shanghai seems to be commonsense everywhere places but of course is not normal in a country like China). And she said that we would even have one of the two rooms with river view which was indeed nice. The view over the houses was intereting – very much the China from the countryside. I will post a ...

... 4-5 storie buildings all connected, but barely any people. About 1/3 of the shops were closed (or more) and there were probably more buildings and cars than people. It was weird. So I found this cheapish hotel and I've just been relaxing. Tomorrow, I think that I'm going to the Nanxi River. If I have time, I'll also drop by the Rice Mirrors.

The doctor I saw was angry with me at the moment we met because I was from the US and had questions for her. I had read that the doctors in China do not like to discuss the plan of care with their patients; that they consider it disrespectful to question what it is they order. We woke up this morning dreading the next few days. International travel is difficult. We ate breakfast at the hotel, and I was very glad to know that soon I would have a normal American breakfast. We headed to the airport around 9:30, and we had to say our goodbyes to Shelley and let her go catch a bus to go to the train station to go back to Nan Jing. It is always good to see ...

... on the way back to the bus. I honestly don't understand how there can be so many stores on the same street all selling the same things and still all make money. How many ink stones, cakes, and wooden frogs can people really buy? We made it back to the dorms around 6, which was just perfect. I had enough time to shower, eat, get a hostel for our next trip to Guilin and go to sleep early.
All in all, this is without a doubt one of the top highlights of this whole trip.
