Dinner was at a "Hot Pot" restaurant. This is as very popular style of restaurant in Beijing especially in the winter. You sit at a circular table- everyone has a pot of boiling water in front of them- and you pick what you want to cook ...

Daytrip to Shidu

After three and a half hours later, we had arrived in Wudaokou. Traffic was horrendous from the Shidu area all the way to the 5th ring road. However on the way back, I was able to see the Macro Polo Bridge in the southwest of Beijing from my comfortable seat in the van. After being dropped off, I met with the rest of the gang at Helens for a nice Sunday dinner: pasta! A good finish to a busy Sunday.

We’ve come to Beijing at the right time we feel as it is Spring here so all the cherry blossoms are out and weather is cooler which has been nice after 3 months of sweating non-stop. We have glorious sunny days with that Spring smell in the air. I am so glad we got to see Spring after all...

... part of it, I arranged with three other people to book a taxi for the day and we went out to Jinshanling. We had hoped to walk about 10km along the wall to Simatai, but part of that section was closed because (wait for it...) they're building a ski resort there!
