          Female weigh up to 1600 lbs. and male up to 5000 lbs. and are up to 5 m long. Hunting in the 18th century brought them nearly to extinction. But today there are 175.000 around. And since 1990 they are here at the elephant Seal rock. A total population of 18,000. They are only twice a year on the rocks the other time they spent at sea. ...

          ... for the Danes leaving their main land was the conditions there were bleak for the ordinary Dane. Work was hard to get; ownership of a home was highly unlikely.

          Solvang had three windmills and I have attached some photographs.

          Next we continued to our Hotel Stay at the Best Western Royal Oak. It is ample for our nights stay and we settled in quickly. Then out to the Chinese Restaurant next door for a lovely meal and an early night to bed for a early start at 7pm.

          Better news came tonight as we swung off highway 1 to find our hotel 20 yards from the turn-off. Better still the local fish restaurant was serving lots of cheap specials and bottles of wine at half-price. We have over-indulged at a a ridiculously low price. And folks we really don’t care!

          Free wi-fi but very slow so no pictures
