Nice Place for the Price
The Shelburne was nice for the price, my room, a one bedroom suite
(recommended with a full bath), was a nice size. New faucets in bath,
tile needed to be replaced, but everything in my room was spic and
span. Very clean! Kitchette is nice, for a long stay (I didnt use it),
dining table comes in handy when ordering in. The only thing I wish was
that the restaurant served something besides hamburgers during the
evening hours. Bellman (Jose) and all hotel help I came in contact with
was extrememly friendly and helpful. Unpretentious, they made me feel
welcome and made my trip to New York a little better! Thank you.
Excellent choice for Self-Catering in NY
Stayed over the Christmas & New Year and found the place to be fantastic. Very cheerful and efficient check-in staff who were most accommodating when I was organising a late-check-out on departure. The rooms far exceeded my expectations for the price (a special deal for the holiday period). The One bedroom Suite was huge with a very spacious and well-decorated sitting area. The studio is fine for 1 person and with the added benefit of the kitchen, one cannot complain.
The maid service was excellent and friendly and the room service efficient (although the food was not amazing). There is a very good hotel bar / restaraunt which always seemed to be buzzing. The only complaint was that not all the machines were working in the gym but that is a minor gripe. All in all, it was perfect, and close enough to the main shopping district that the walk is not too painful. Definitely a place I would recommend.
Nice but needs some Sprucing up.
The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. The location was fine was well as the price for the room. However, we wanted a non smoking room and was given a smoking room with no other rooms available. The bathroom was not cleaned throughly as some past guess items were still in the room. The rooms need a spurcing up I feel the pictures on the internet is not what you get when your get there. I would say this is a 3 star hotel nothing more.
Shelburne Murray Hill is great.
Three of us stayed in Shelburne Murray Hill last week. Great hotel. Well located on Lexington Avenue with very helpful staff. Small comfortable suites which were good value. Would stay again.
I stayed at the Shelburne Murray during the Memorial Day holiday and let me tell you that my friends and I had a ball. The hotel staff was absolutely great and upon hearing it was my sister's 30th birthday we received all sorts of free coupons, drinks and other discounts. The restaurant was great and the bellman were fantastic. This hotel has a beautiful charm to it and I would recommend anyone that is travelling for the first time or for a beautiful relaxed luxury weekend to stay here. I returned to NYC for a wedding and was disappointed that they were sold out the weekend that I was going to be in town, but they gave me some additional hotels to stay in. Now that was a shock..... I stayed at the Marriott and the service was great, but I missed my new found friends at the Shelbourne. Treat yourself and you can book this hotel for cheaper on hotelkingdom. T Glass
Good value and location. Our room off the street was very quiet. Helpful staff. Room was spacious but the bathroom was very small. Would stay here again.
Good Hotel - Good Deal
After all the horror reviews I read on this website about the cheaper hotels, I decided to spend some peace of mind money and spend a little more. I got a deal for the Shelburne Suite Hotel through Expedia for $125 a night. I was glad that I picked this hotel, as it was a very nice hotel, the suites were spacious and the staff very friendly. I checked in very late, and was accidentally given a smoker room, however I would have never noticed it, if I did not see the ash trays the next morning. So I actually decided to stay in the room, as there was absolutely no smell. The kitchen and the bathroom both were spotless and the room service was good as well. If you stay with two people in this room, it is a very good deal. It is located in Murray Hill, a very nice neighborhood not too far from the Chrysler Building. I definitely did not have to worry in this hotel about my valuables or anything.
Definitely a good deal.
A Wonderful Quaint Little Hotel in a Gorgeous Neighborhood
My girlfriend and I decided to pick a nice hotel to celebrate our anniversary in the city. We live in the outerborough of Queens and it takes us about an hour to get home from Manhattan. So we decided to treat ourselves to a night in Manhattan. I picked the hotel because it is located in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in New York City, Murray Hill. The hotel is located right in the middle of the neighborhood. The neighborhood is beautiful, quiet at night and very safe. We got upgraded for free to a studio suite at the Shelburne when we got there. The lobby was nice and clean. The person at the front desk was very friendly. I was at awe when I got to my room because it was so spacious, beautiful and clean. It included a fully equipped spotless kitchenette with four sets of plates, soup bowls, glasses and wine glasses. There is a nice little wine shop a block from the hotel that can put those wine glasses to good use as I did. Also there were two cooking pans, a clean stove, a spotless sink, a cutting board, dishwashing soup and a fridge. The room was also equipped with an iron and iron board and also a hair dryer. The bed was very soft and clean. The bathroom was very clean. I am recommending this hotel to everyone who comes to the city. It is the best you can find for a reasonable price in New York City. The hotel is walking distance from Grand Central Station, the UN, the Empire State Building and Times Square. If you are coming to New York then this is the only hotel you should consider.
A very nice Hotel!
We visited NYC for the first time in April. We read the reviews for the Shelburne and decided that it would be our choice of hotels. We were very pleased with our stay (6 days) there. Everyone was so nice, from the doormen to the desk clerks to the maids. We felt very special while we stayed there. There are several resturants nearby that deliver to your room. The delivery boys were escorted by the hotel security from the lobby to our door. The front desk even called to tell us they were on their way up. The room was small but very clean and adequate for our needs. Our only complaint was the bed was not the most comfortable we had ever slept on. The hotel is only 4 blocks from Grand Central Station where you can catch the subway to about anywhere you want to go. We felt very safe in the neighborhood around the hotel. We would definately stay there again when we visit NYC again.
Very Clean & Comfortable
After waiting 18 years to return to New York, I was concerned about accommodations and didn't want to be disappointed by having to stay in a prison cell of a room with the noise of New York blaring in my ears as I try to sleep.
The Shelburne Suite Motel was a very pleasant relief after a long day and night out on the town. I wasn't able to hear anything from the outside except an occasional siren, and that was dimly noticeable.
I booked a standard room that was a cozy size. There was enough room for me any my significant other to spread-out. It had a very comfortable king sized bed, the bathroom was very clean and all items were in working order. There was even a small stove, refrigerator, sink, and cabinets loaded with cups, dishes, and flatware. For $149 a night, I was very pleased. The television was large screen (~21" or so). The view was nothing wonderful... just an adjacent building with no real view of the street, but that's okay. I understand this is New York -- the concrete jungle -- and for $149 a night, I don't expect a view of Lady Liberty.
My experience with the staff was very good. Everyone was polite and friendly, which, in New York, receiving that is always a breath of fresh air. The doorman was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Overall, I would say if you are looking for clean, comfortable accommodations for a very reasonable price, you would do well to stay at the Shelburne Suite Hotel. Im planning a return visit in a few months.

Eric is going to work today, so we get up with him, have breakfast, and leave his apartment at the same time. We head down to the subway, and catch it all the way south to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal. One tip - when on these long subway journeys, waiting another few minutes for the express service is worth it - we easily passed the first train that came through our stop after a few stations.
Off at the Staten Island Ferry terminal. Unbeknownst to us, ...
