... for 40 minutes! (The show takes one hour:).
We spent there couple of days but if you don't have time a quick visit, one day trip, will be sufficient to see and experience some of those places.
How to get there;
- from Chandigarh there are about 6 trains daily. It takes about 2 hours.
To stay:
- Neelkanthi Krishna Dham Yatri Niwas of Haryana Tourism is good value for money. Rs 1100-1800 (AC) for a really ...
Hissar, Tajikistan schwate... with the goat, pinning it against the horse with one leg and holding it with one arm, with everybody else in hot pursuit. The crowd just absolutely erupts at this point. It's pretty amazing to see the agility of the riders - the goat is soaked in water overnight, so it's really heavy. The highlight of the day was when two riders grabbed the goat in tandem and carried it between them, circling the pitch two times. There are men standing on the pitch to get a better view ...
Mandawa and Bikaner, India sebchant... go back another day. By the time we got back to Rurka things were coming to an end (good timing), my cousin and his wife had cone to a reception party in Nakodar so we just said our goodbyes and came back to Pind. We got back here for around 5pm I have just finished packing (or throwing stuff into my backpack) and I'm ready for bed, it's only 9pm but I could really do with some rest. We start out at 5am again tomorrow, Shtabdi is a good train but the early start is a killer.
Rurka, Punjab, India harvimalhi... view the concert, but when we did it was well worth the hassle. We left there at 6pm and by the time we got back to Pind we were all wrecked. I am due to leave here on the 6th of Feb to go to Sri Lanka, I'm thinking about making a trip to Rajasthan before I leave so I may delay my departure a few days. I really want to and need to get out of here now but when I do, I don't know when or if I'm coming back here so if I'm going to see Rajasthan it needs to be now.
Rurka, Punjab, India harvimalhi... Bhabi's family in Jalandhar before leaving for Amritsar where we will visit the Golden Temple and then go onto the Airport. They had everything packed and were in bed for 10, they are all exited about going home, so how much sleep they will get I don't know. While I'm exited for them too I can't help but feel a bit sad to see them go, it was good fun having them around. I'm sure I will miss them loads in the days that follow their departure...
Nawa Pind, Nakodar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... Shekhawati are known for their elaborately painted havelis - large homes built around inner courtyards - and after a morning by the pool, we went into Jhunjhunu town yesterday afternoon to look for some. Being the area's main transport hub, it's not the prettiest town but we did stumble across some dilapidated havelis in the older part. All the havelis are around 150 years old, and run-down as these were, it wasn't hard to imagine how grand they ...
Jhunjunu, India wanderingkat... wealth coming my way (more than previously), and there is a man I've known since I was young who will soon become my husband and I will have 5 children!!!!!!!! I am also hot-tempered he told me (surely not true?! ;-)) One hour later in the truck, we arrived at our Haveli hotel in a small town called Mandawa. Again, very few tourists, so lots of stares, especially at me in my Salwar Kameez and a few women taking my arm and saying something ...
