... 60 meters high from lake level and advancing 2 meters a day. The impressive sound of chunks breaking off and tumbling into the lake, causing big waves. The transparant blue color, borrowed from the sky until it sinks into the milky grey water of the lake. The heat of the sun melts the icy peaks so quickly that we can actually see them change shape during the day. We spend several hours looking, walking, listening and taking pictures. Among hundreds of ...

... the bus takes a different route, stops at a local estancia or farm and also includes a short trek before going to the glazier.

We set of in a big bus, which is completely sold out with about 50 people on board. It feels a little touristy as when we get a good view, the bus stops, we all get off, take our pictures and get back on again. It improves a lot when we stop at this little estancia, which does not look much from distance. But they have a baby guanaco ...

... sandwich the first time (which was really my first bread in 1.5months because GF bread doesn't exist elsewhere in South America. The second time I wasn't hungry and didn't need food but I still had a sandwich, empanadas and a cupcake just because I could. Otherwise I stuck to my staple corn flakes and water with a bit of lactose free milk powder and fruit for breakfast. If I could I would have smashed some of the free croissants at the hotel because they looked ...
