Today I got to ride the chair lift up to Calafate Mountain Park - there was zero wind today - just beautiful blue sky and a warm temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. Go figure, I was overdressed for the day. Not to worry, it was a little cooler on top of the mountain. Once again, I was the only one on ...

It brought tears to our eyes and spontaneous applause from the passengers. On landing in Calafate we were very excited about the ...

... being hung in the barn for the next day and the armadillo which was being pot-boiled. The next day, the guys were off to fish salmon and hunt guanaco. "We like all kinds of meat," they said. "Indeed," I thought.

The house was powered by a generator, next to which I was camped. It was not shut off until well after the party ended, by which time the sun was up. Exactly as I had guessed, the first sound I heard on the generator ending was a cockerel telling me that I ...

... the entire structure shifts forwards. See I actually learnt something on this holiday. El Calafate historical interpretation centre. Quite small. Thankfully had a book translating all their exhibits into English. Lots about dinosaurs, land formation, continental drift and evolution. Learnt more but I won't inflict that on you. Laguna Nimez reserve. Conveniently located 2 mins from my hotel. Backs onto largo Argentina which has a glacial supply from memory. This makes ...
