Rte. 15 Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, C1E 1Z3, 902-672-2022
We awake early after a rough stormy night at sea. Spray washed all the way onto our balcony up on Deck 11 but the ship must have a good crew and a good design as the trip is quite smooth. It is misty and trying to snow as we cruise past expensive house situated on the red sand beaches of PEI. We decided to check out an Anne shop, a knitting shop then a shopping centre. A large passenger facility is located immediately ...

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada swissbear... any of its seven ales over lunch. Definitely worth a visit if you can get a table.

From there we went separate ways to explore Charlottetown and most of us wound up down at the harbour sometime during the afternoon. Like most of the maritime harbours we have seen (one) Charlottetown has done a commendable job of making it a pleasant location for things tourstique (as they say in Quebec). There are boardwalks to stroll, marinas and shops to explore and ...
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada andy_n... a four bedroom cottage in the town of Cavendish, on the northern shore of central Prince Edward Island. Reassured by Garmi, we skirted to the north of Charlottetown and made our way to The Cavendish Cottages, driving past many fields of hay, potatoes and cows and a few pretty sea-coves and inlets. Our cottage was well equipped and one of what seemed like several thousand that stood hopefully along the Cavendish Road. Mike and I, claiming infirmities that had ...
Cavendish, Prince Edward Island, Canada andy_n... I found a bench by the bay and sat and read and watched the boats go in and out.

I read "Evangaline" by Longfellow - I've never read anything by him and was interested because I had just been in the area of Nova Scotia that they had lived in when they were driven out by the British. I was blown away by Longfellow's writing and the beauty of the poem - it was sad and powerful and a beautiful love story. I am going to read it again because I know I didn't fully take it ...
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada cmbottrell... 6000-odd miles on the odometer). Prince Edward Island is lovely... today didn't really show it off to best advantage as it was overcast and the little bit of rain made it a bit humid. However, the people are warm (the lady next to me on the plane gave me her phone number just in case - isn't that lovely?) and the fulfillment of my dream to visit here is just delicious. Speaking of delicious, Island strawberries are in season here, so ...
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada meganwadey... off in search of dinner. Katie (the other owner of the hostel) had recommended Churchill's Pub which was an English style pub that did excellent curry. Unfortunately it was closed on Sundays (!) which made it fail miserably in an important aspect of English pub-ness, so I went to the Chinese Restaurant next door. I was channelling Bill Bryson as I sat at my little table for one in the corner with a guide book. All I needed was a history of Charlottetown book and I could have ...
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada southern-fairy... like gingerbread houses, and it's still small enough that even in peak tourist season (i.e. when we went in August), it's still not super-crowded and is actually able to retain its very quaint feel. I'm looking in your direction, San Francisco: Pier 39 is no longer 'cute' or 'quaint' or even 'kitschy.' It's just a crowded, overpriced tourist trap.

PEI is also a generally interesting place. They have red mud and a store where everything has cows on it.
Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada dianaleemillerThe third day of the tour we drove from Cape Bretton to Charlottetown. We left early in the morning to make sure that we could catch the ferry at 11:30 and got there just on time. The ferry was fun, but VERY hot. It didn't seem like there was anywhere you could go to cool off. We got to Charlottetown to early to check in ...
