We visited the Dam this morning, and what an experience that was!
It is absolutely massive, with 26 generators. When it was launched in 2007, it produced 10% of China's energy, but with the continuous increase in demand, it's down to about 2%. But considering the pollution throughout the country, clean energy projects like this are essential.

Yangzi River Cruise, Day 2
... basically pull cargo with ropes in treacherous conditions. They actually worked completely naked, because their rough cotton clothing when wet was too abrasive on their skin. In the winter, with freezing waters, they would drink a Chinese type ouzo (can't remember the name) to keep warm.

It was a very interesting cultural perspective, but I felt awkward as a tourist invading peoples' homes. Granted, I'm sure they are well compensated for their troubles, but it felt strange bringing cameras in, like they were an exhibit in a museum or zoo. I didn't take many photos as a result, but I did buy the photos that the Cruise took, so I'll load some of those another time.

Last Day on the River
... on the boat was first class ,however we would recommend the upgrade to the executive level where we were somewhat protected from the busyness of the decks below.
The continuous flow of medium sized cargo ships highlights the importance of the river as a means of transport and the important role it plays in the Chines economy. You also get some idea of China,s growth from the activity on the river bank.
