... insisted that everyone take off their shoes on entry! So we lay on our sides enveloped in smelly feet odour! Pleasant! In fairness, it was cosy and warm though! The journey passed uneventfully. A toilet stop, a cheesy kung fu movie and some snoring..... Until....

The Bus pulled up to the side of the road, a few got out. Then the bus driver decided he'd have a nap. He had a ciggarette, climbed into one of the bunks and fell asleep. For about five hours ...

Taiyuan, Shanxi, China jenny77... to see the small baijiu glasses from the last time we had dinner with Ms. Niu. Luckily Mr. Bai was drinking wine and offered us wine instead of that vile grain alcohol. Dinner was a very long, but interesting 4 course meal that also came with about 15 other dishes that circled around on a lazy susan. Again there was some serious over ordering, but I think that is tradition when you are entertaining guests. Mr. Bai was clearly ...
Taiyuan, Shanxi, China jstellarWe get dropped off at the Qingxu service station at 2:30am. There's a 24hr convenient store, we find a row of plastic seats and tries to make it until the sun comes up. We have been on the road nonstop for 18 hours, have to wait 7 more hours before we can find a bed.
Taiyuan, Shanxi, China whereskyle... and we should consider paying 150 yuan for a english speaking guide. Since Mike had really wanted to come here and we had made the extra moves to get here we paid the extra for the guide. Our guide's english name was Lucy, a young woman who just graduated with a degree as a tour guide. She met us at the hotel which was good since we had to change buses along the way. The weather was forecast to rain an ...
Yichang, Shanxi, China miss.chris... Jenze jsme nemeli paru, kde stavi, tak sla pani s nama a zkousela nas ukecat. Coz mimo jine privedlo mou mysl k zubum.
Taiyuan, Shanxi, China masovy_kasparek... I actually liked is how the archaeologists left some of the soldiers un-reconstructed as it was a good indication as to how the warriors were intially discovered. The third pit (Pit 3), which we actually saw second, was smaller with more high-ranking officers unearthed in this section. The second pit (Pit 2) had less warriors than Pit 1, only about 1300, and much work, archaeologically, is still left to be done in ...
Xian, Shanxi, China kasey_kid... than the hotel had. It was cold and gluggy so all in all, it wasn't the best day of travel I've ever had! When we returned to the hotel things became even glummer. The power kept going out and I am serious when I say every ten minutes. When it came back on a different part of the room had power. Sometimes it was the TV and other times it was ...
Taiyuan, Shanxi, China eddakath... this village and walked through the area. It was really strange because it reminded me of some decrepit native American village with corn strewn everywhere, a lone burro, corn leaf covered roofs, etc. Afterwards, we walked back down the hill, stopping to take pictures of some nice trees and then ventured back down the mountain, Jason and I taking precarious shortcuts down rock-sliding slopes, to take a van back to the school. Overall, a really nice day.
