Strangest bus journey in the world!

... we slept in our bus, going nowhere!

His alarm went off around six in the morning and he roused a few others from their sleep! Simultaneously, a row of taxis joined the bus. One by one the taxi drivers hopped out! (Oh God! What's going on here??) They each took a bag from the bus and once again disappeared. Some of the helpers jumped into a passing white van. And a strange old man passed the bus, nonchalant, but walkin backwards up the road. We shrugged off ...

The Shanxi province

... it's hard to smile all the time, have such a structured schedule, get so many pictures taken, and try and converse with people you can barely speak to (thank god Ting and Sai Wing were there as our impromptu translators). I much prefer the backpacking form of travel. I like eating in the hole-in-the-wall places, I like my own schedule, and I hate having my picture taken. But it was nice to see a different world, just for a weekend.

No where to sleep

We get dropped off at the Qingxu service station at 2:30am. There's a 24hr convenient store, we find a row of plastic seats and tries to make it until the sun comes up. We have been on the road nonstop for 18 hours, have to wait 7 more hours before we can find a bed.

The weather was forecast to rain an ...

... signature. This second building also had a 360 degree theater detailing the history surrounding the Terracotta Warriors. Though the movie was in Chinese, visually it was easy enough to understand. The last three buildings were the pits in which the Terracotta Warriors were found. The first pit was by far the most impressive with thousands (I believe around 6000) of common soldiers lined up in ranks with some horses ...

... city is the Jinci Temple. Construction on this little Buddhist beauty began around AD1023 and most of the ancient buildings are made from wood. Built at the start of the Jin River the temple is not only located in a beautiful part of Taiyuan but the temple itself really is an awesome place to spend an afternoon. The first actual temple was built to worship the ...

New Semester

... how **** the textbook here was). I really enjoyed it and after learning that during the next semester there were no classes to really challenge me I decided to create a new class and the school loved the idea! So this semester I'll be teaching art education to two classes. OK, so very few of you know, but I really dig art...I read about it, study it, have been to the best museums in every country I've been to, and am pretty excited about this ...
