... houses.

We stayed in a good hotel in the centre for 2 nights. H is a very large city with 2.5 million people compared with only 3 million people in the whole of outer Mongolia.
The contrast is extreme, there is much wealth alongside much poverty.
Our first day we had a guide to take us to the favourite tourist places, Zhao Jun Tomb, Dazhao Temple and the Five Pagoda Temple. The last day we were off at 23.00 to Beijing. We ...

Hohhot, China eddakath... in my eyes at least. The day we were leaving Beijing that had been hot and humid, the weather turned cool due to a rain the previous night somewhere near the city. The new Badaling Highway took us to the Wall in less than an hour. The world's most famous wonder totally transformed from what I remembered. No more chaotic parking lot, no more trash on ground ...
Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China pdjw... waste of time this breakfast was! Californian Beef Noodles was just across the road! What a bugger! Not Happy! Little did we know then that we should have thrown our train tickets away and purchased new tickets for the bus to take us north. We both knew that we didn't have seat tickets but usually after ...
Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China eddakath... close to Mongolia - North and West of Beijing. My grandmother had gone on an adventure to teach English in the 80's when China opened up to things like expatriate English teachers. She was one of two expatriates in all of Inner Mongolia, a region probably as big as Texas. Guess what? I just accidentally lost a bunch of heartfelt things that I had written about my time in Huhehaote and it got deleted. Man I hate Travelpod sometimes. These blogs are a pain in the ...
Huhehaote / Hohhot, China eadamson... villages and wilderness to a random river where a sketchy ferry awaitedus. When I say ferry, it was more of a glorified crabbing boat about 6 ft wide and no longer than our living room. We all piled on there while the drivr stood up in the back and directed the puttputt motor like some Asian gondola. The ride was beautiful though, and about an hour later we got to somewhere on the other side of the river where we were met by two jeepish vehicles. They ...
